I was wondering for those of you who follow Calzaghe closely when has he been considered an underdog going into a fight. Usually you can assess someone's greatest victories depending on how much of an upset the win was.

Lets not mention the lacey fight.

Calzaghe was the favorite against Reid, although Reid's odds did shorten approaching the fight.

Chris Eubank heads back into the big-time branded "a shot fighter" by the man who destroyed him.
Steve Collins reckons Eubank is *******s to take on hungry youngster Joe Calzaghe.
They meet in Sheffield next Saturday night for the WBO super-middleweight world title made vacant by Dubliner Collins' decision to retire from the ring. Eubank, 31, two years out...

If you mean betting uderdog, then only Lacy.(sorry)

If you mean on here, the only fight I've been here for(thank ****) was Jones, so i cant say. Folk say he wasnt favoured to beat Hop but others say he was. Bump a thread from April.

Most ESP writers (don't ask me why) beleived RJ was a favorite against JC, but I guess that was just to get attention.

As far as i know he was only the underdog against Lacy, but the odds usually tend to favour the hometown favorite, and JC fought at home for the most part.

Faced Eubanks in England, so might have been an underdog there, but not among experts.

If anything its the fact that he has rarely been an underdog that he is criticised for.

I don't think he has been apart from briefly before the Lacy fight where his odds went up to 6/5.

It's Testament to his greatness that he has rarely been the underdog...

To a degree. But at the same time it makes it clear that he has never fought ATG opposition that could be considered anywhere near their peak.

He was favored slightly against Hopkins on ESB and favored heavily against Jones.

Really makes me laugh how some of these "big time boxing fans", spell simple names like Lacy and Eubank wrong! I've lost count of gow may times he's been referred to as Eubanks (maybe it's the way he lisps or something). I'd hat to ss them try to spell Pacquiao... PAKEEEOWW lol

It's one of the reason why he's undefeated.

All I know that if he had fought Jones and Hopkins earlier on, he definitely would have been the underdog.
