The odds were very tight on that one.

    More or less even.

Calzaghe was a beast back then.

Do you still think Eubank was 40 at the time of that fight?

Or was that one of your previous aliases, it gets so hard to keep track...?

Twice in his career: Starie and Lacy.

Both easy wins (well, Starie fight was competetive and ugly).

I'm well aware of the history which surrounds the fight, I watched most of Eubank's career and pretty well all of Calzaghe's. The reason for Eubank's non-ranking was that he had officially "retired" after the second Collins fight and hence had been dropped from governing body rankings. As you said, his in between wins were not enough to warrant giving that ranking back. Nonetheless, as a fighter Eubank was only 31 and still in relatively good condition (witness his very close fights with cruiserweight titlist Carl Thompson afterwards).

If you have some hard evidence to the contrary then fair enough maybe my memory's playing tricks but sure I remember Eubank being favourite simply on the grounds that it was a massive step up for the (at that stage) totally unproven Calzaghe.

:patsch:patsch:patsch:patsch:patsch I never thought I'd see another poster with the same brand of mental illness that Betty Swollocks has but you seem to manage it alright!

I guarantee you he was not an underdog or anything close to it against Starie!

Re: Delaney, I could have missed that one though I'm pretty sure he was something like 2/5. OK so it was in his opponent's backyard but JC was clearly the more talented boxer.

    Jesus, chill out man

I can't remember if Eubank was fav, i thought he was.

But for a fighter who had not fought someone anywhere near world class yet and then dominate even that version of Eubank is a fantastic win....no doubt about it.
