I don't think he is much. Seems to have a decent chin, but, Cotto should be able to beat him. If he can't beat Yuri, retire.

  2. I've seen him fight about 4 times. He's never impressed me. In fact he always bored the **** outta me until the Santos fight, where he gave a beatdown... But Santos was clearly shot..so..

Anyway, I think the new weightclass gives Cotto a boost and he shows well in this fight, but it won't be easy with all that movement and those fast hands Foreman has.

I can imagine this fight looking a lot like Cotto/Jennings. On the other hand, I can imagine Cotto getting out pointed over the course of 12 rounds. I think it's a good test to determine what Miguel should do next.

Saying he is an average fighter or a C fighter is just stupid.
Even if he loses to Cotto.... those are still stupid comments.

The people making those comments are really only providing insight into their knowledge of the sport.

    5. There was a Yuri Foreman marathon on TV here on MSG a couple weeks ago. I didn't watch the whole thing.

I wasn't impressed. He looked good, but not GREAT, A+ level or anything to me.

    Clearly shot?

    Oh please.
Convenient.... he's clearly shot when he loses. What a great way to wipe off any win's legitimacy.
The same Santos who had a win over Joachim Alcine (30-0).

No, Santos underestimated Foreman's movement.... and got beat for doing so.

Ive seen Yuri fight a couple times on ESPN and thought he was decent i guess, but i dont think he really stands a chance against Cotto. He does have decent hand speed, but cotto has faced quicker hands before with Judah and Mosely, plus Yuri doesnt really have any power at all it seems like. Yuri does have pretty good movement, but i think cotto can deal with that because he cuts the ring off pretty good as well IMO... Either way, i cant wait to see how he does in the higher weight class

People need to realise the massive size difference in this fight, Foreman is not a 147lber, and cotto was never a large welterweight to begin with, and also gets troubled somewhat by guys he cant make an impact on. Thats what makes this fight dangerous, it has more to do then just Foremans level as a fighter, but also how cotto carries 154, how cotto deals with foremans size, what foreman is like fighting such a smaller man, ect, ect...

This isnt a black and white issue of is cotto better then foreman or not... its more complicated then that in this instance.

    At least IMO

Saw his fight with Santos on the Pac-Cotto card. Was one of those undercard fights that make you wonder why they even bother.

Seems like just a middleweight version of that Salita guy khan fought. Padded record, making a quick buck on nostalgic feelings for jewish boxers of the past.

Foreman is clearly better than Salita.

He may not have been shot, but if you've seen Santos before, you would know that wasn't even close to his best. He looked really out of shape, at a minimum.

The only things Foreman and Salita have in common are that they're Ukranian Jews. Other than that they're not even close to being the same fighter. Also, Salita's a bum, Foreman isn't.

Foreman's not spectacular either, but this style matchup is ALL WRONG for Cotto. Foreman can fight off the back foot and just jab him to death. It's not like Cotto to rush in, but that's what he'll have to do to catch Foreman. Foreman's footwork is pretty good, and I doubt he'll let himself get caught against the ropes. At least I've never seen it happen. He's really good at staying in the middle of the ring and fighting from a distance.

Foreman moves well, has a good jab, fast hands, very cerebral. I've seen him 5 or so times. I like the fight but I think Foreman takes a snoozer.

i hate watching his fights- he fights ugly. he throws ugly- for a boxer - his style is very unwatchable.
