Several times....................Lopez should thank the referee for saving his life.....................one more punch and Lopez could have had very serious brain damage, he acts like it now!

Great great fight!, I can't just watch that 9th round, it has to be the whole fight or nothing, even the 1st. The whole fight was perfect, started out slow, then on the second they started going at it, it kept escalating till the 9th and then ended in a sudden and brutal fashion. In those exchanges I had a feeling JuanMa was going to catch Salido again, but it never happened, great fight, will remember it all my life. I will tell people about it 30, 40, 60 years from now:eek:ld

I finally gave it a second viewing last night.

It's on Showtime On Demand for subscribers. :good

    :happy

By the way, the rounds weren't anywhere near as close as they seemed live. Gus Johnson's shouting and the crowd being on its feet created an exciting atmosphere and the impression that the exchanges were a bit more substantial than the one-sided reality of Salido just landing bombs to the face over and over. In reality Lopez had scarce few moments in each round (and none at all in a couple of rounds) where he was actually turning over good shots and connecting flush. He mostly pushed and slapped with his punches, and the jab he tried to outbox with was a soaking wet blanket. Obviously enough of his power shots got through to puff up both of Salido's eyes (elbows helped) but by sheer number those shots were just dwarfed by the ones clanging off his own head minute after minute. It was not only a landslide numerically, but nothing Lopez landed (not even that short right hook that scored the knockdown) was thrown with the same force - on the back foot or the rare ones coming forward - as the average overhand right pelted out by Salido. In both quality and quantity, it was all Salido all the way.

My original score remains the same. 88-82 Salido. I did roll with convention and give Lopez the 5th as a 10-8 round, because even though Salido had dominated up until then IMO someone has to REALLY dominate (ie be on the verge of a 10-8 round themselves from sheer ass whipping) to flip the script and stave off the two point swing of being knocked down. It was a real knockdown. Lopez earned the 10-8 share, despite having been creamed for two and a half minutes before that. Salido just wasn't quite that dominant to only give it 10-9 to JML. However, he was dominant enough in every other round to make it not even conceivable that JuanMa bagged another.

My fiance watched with me (reluctantly; she's pregnant and was sleepy), and without any prompting from me deemed round after round as being clearly for Salido - except the fifth and of course that only due to the KD. She suggested that to a casual fan like herself, the 9th appeared like it could maybe have gone either way due to the constant exchanges (it couldn't have; it was Salido unloading a cannon against Lopez's water pistol) but otherwise she couldn't see how Lopez won a round.

Then she got mad and started throwing **** during the Lopez interview ("Dominating? Going backwards and not throwing? Getting the **** kicked out of you???"), and the revelation that he was up on two of the three shitty cards and that Salido would have been screwed over had he not knocked him out. "Good for Salada!" she kept yelling, wide awake now.

"Salido, babe. But don't sweat it. Just go with Siri if it's easier. Or Warlando :D"
