How many times, if at all, will Hopkins knock Calzaghe down, during their fight?

Did you see Hopkin's knockdowns at the hands of Segundo Mercado? Hopkins will not knockdown Joe C.

Yes did you or have you just read about them? I saw a man suffering from the altitude suffer two flash knockdowns in a fight he otherwise dominated only to destroy his man in the return. I also know he hasn't been knocked down since.

It all depends on how will the styles match up and nobody can tell for sure how they will match at the moment being. Calzaghe may have the formula to have Hopkins on the receiving end all night - staying busy and pressuring him, keeping a hard pace, fighting from different angles, doubling, tripling up Hopkins' output, going to the body of his elder - and Hopkins' strength may drain away like water from a burst hose and the air squeezed from his lungs like from a popped baloon... But I look at how Calzaghe came at Kessler in the third ( after that Kessler slip), trying to impose his will with wide punches, almost flapping his wings, missing a lot and squaring up... You don't need to drop him and separate him from his senses, or headbutt to cut him bad - a sharp punch cuts like a knife, look at Pacquiao's left on JMM, look at Nate's left on Diaz in the sixth... And Bernard's punches are sharp, oh boy, those are to be sharp counters on that "pretty face" ( no offense intended). That's it, Calzaghe can't sit down on any punch and can't expect to drop big shots on this guy - he has too many tricks up his sleeve, remember Campbell and Casamayor.

No knockdowns. At best a flash knockdown because Calzaghe's off balance. Both these guys have chins of iron and neither one has explosive power, which isnt indicative of knockdowns

Good point...I will be interested to see what happens during the first tie-up and who starts pushing who around.

If you can push the southpaw backwards, he loses a lot of his "opposite style" advantage, and your straight right hand then begins to land.

Richie Woodhall says he and Joe are the most adaptable fighters in the World today ( Calzaghe-Kessler Setanta Telecast). You didn't see him switch his style against JT? I guess the only thing he didn't do to him was to ass-**** him because he blocked JT's jab, hit him low, opened a gash in his head, imitated JT scratching his feet on the canvas, hit him with withering rights and leading left hooks and yes, I almost forgot, shoulder shuffled... I continue to say that if you think that JC is gonna start where JT left off, expect to see a lot of switching to say the least.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hopkins gets Calzaghe offbalance and knocks him down 1-3 times during the fight... Bernard will make Calzaghe look very sloppy in there.
