It's not a claim to fame if that's what you're making out. Frank Bruno wasn't down often either, but he was certainly 'out'.

Didn't Steve Collins put him over, or was that deemed an injury as opposed to a knockdown by punch

No, but Dewitt dropped him in the 2nd when he won the vacant WBO middle.

He did in either the 4th or 5th round, hit him behind the head, shouldn’t have been scored.

Wobbled many times then came roaring back with bombs each time!

He seemed to have the same exciting wars with local area level guys as he did with the very best in the world somehow.

I was at the London Arena for the McClellan fight. There was something toxic in the air that night, even before the tragic events unfolded. It was the craving for blood I imagine the crowd watching gladiators in the coliseum would have demanded.

I didn't see that fight until years later, but listened to it in a bar in Spain on the radio. You could hear that very atmosphere you describe, and sometimes radio commentary really enhances it. At the end when McClellan was clearly in a bad way, the bar went pretty silent and eerie to the extent they turned the radio off and put some music on.
