indeed he could, especially the Eklund, Gardner,Gilberti fights..........However, he looked less tha stellar in his early collapses vs Mark Lee, Derek Williams and Lewis

 

Euro-level at the time was the likes of Tangstad, Eklund, Rodriguez and Evangelista. Bruno was at least a level above those guys, as he proved in the ring when needed.

Bruno beat guys who would probably qualify as fringe world class - eg Coetzer, old Bugner, Williams. That is ignoring the fact that he did win a version of a world title.

Bruno came up short against the elite, but I think he was firmly in the next rung down. Too good for gatekeepers, faded world class fighters, and fringe contenders. He trod a privileged path in comparison to his peers, so it’s understandable he gets criticism for that. He was pretty good though, both in his time and compared to historical British heavyweights.

Not in the 80's it wasn't. There are very few British names on Bruno's record and those that are were not at British Title level. I'm sure Frank would have fought them all but Terry Lawless wouldn't let him.

Bruno could take a half decent shot up until a certain point when fatigue started to show slightly, he'd be rooted to the floor defenceless taking shots not knowing where he was. He reminds me a lot like Price, that nervous energy depletes any gas tank they may have, more than them being proper chinny, they have took bombs when put away too against punchers. Although not great chins, they get weary very quickly and therefore more susceptible than average..Manufactured fighters syndrome imo
