He's 36, has 12 defenses, and fights 2-3 times per year. I say he makes it to 20, calls it a day. He can beat Louis record if he fought 3 times a year for another 4 years. P.S. I know I come off as a Klit hater, but I really hate his insanely ignorant fan base on this site. Not the fighters themselves so much (although Vitali is a dick head sometimes in the ring).
Also, because I have seen silly Klit drones, Louis has two title defense records. Most consecutive (25) and most overall (25). If we're counting the WBO, since most people do now, he has 17 overall defenses and his best streak of defenses is currently 12. So if he were to defend 9 more times, he'd be at 26 overall and 21 in a row. Both very impressive. Even in a crappy era, it is still difficult to do.
Hard to see who would beat him, either. Really, its hard to even think of challenging fights on the horizon. In a couple of years, David Price will be the best test. Even though he is extremely crude, I think Abdusalamov has the kind of raw power to where one lucky shot could make it an interesting fight. Helenius, if he was healthy, would be similar. He is so slow that Wladdy should win comfortably, but with power in either fist, there is always the possible one lucky punch. I like Pulev, but I don't know if its competative, as its hard to see anything Pulev does better than Wlad. Ortiz would be a sleeper. His size, power, and southpaw style stance are a simliar skills package to Corrie Sanders. but his career is going nowhere. Arreola- to me is an overrated guy who would be easily blown out. Adamek- love the guy, but its a tragedy waiting to happen. Mitchell- no evidence of him being good enough to share a ring with Wlad Wilder- Judging by the Scoiners fight, might be killed by Wladdy. Fury- Won't be ready any time soon. A lot of way to go before his name can be mentioned in the same breath. Glazkov- Career is not progressing well due to cancelled fights and poor opponets. Povetkin- Will never, even get the sack to fight Wlad in the first place. Wach- hard to say if this guy is really any good as McBride and Fields are his best wins. Szpilka- A long, long way to go, an maybe just too small in the first place. And on, and on.
Exactly, no one can really threaten him. If he retired with a record of 71-3 (assuming he wins 13 more to tie Louis' record) that be insane. That would be like, 12 years undefeated.
for the next 3 years, all he needs to do is defend his titles 3 x a year and he;ll beat Louis' record
Not for consecutive defenses. He would need 13 more. To beat the overall record, he needs 9 defenses.
Wlad can still be champion in ten years time. There's literally nobody with any chance of beating him. Lewis could come out of retirement and be the closest threat.... and would be put to sleep in the middle rounds.
The only fighter who beats Wlad is Vitali. (Wlad knows this, Vitali knows this... We all know this) Can't **** w/Big Brother #BigBrothersRuleYoungerBrothersDrool
