Don't get me wrong, but you know how it is when your there live!

I thought it was an 8-4, 9-3 type fight too, and was also VERY impressed by his "defensive manuvers". How he was able to be in such good range to land his punches on Navarro, but even just the slight movements of his head would avoid a 3-4 punch combo.

Agree that stylistically Navarro was never going to make him look AWESOME. In all honesty, Montiel probably impressed more that night.

EDIT: Mijares DOMINATES Montiel, though. Probably by decision

shoulda seen all the puertorican/mexican boxers at the boxing gym I work out at, The monday back after the weekend of the Mijares/Navarro fight...Some of those guys couldn't stop talking about how SICK Mijares was, it was awesome because they were so hyped up about Mijares.... More people need to see this guy so they can know what boxing is all about.

He's truly one of the best boxers in the sport and that's not just funny/petty hyping. The guys a ring genius, not many fans understand just how good you have to be to even break the top 20. These elite guys(all personal criticisms aside) are just nutty skilled and Mijares is at the top of this bunch in my opinion and I am glad that many intelligent posters share this opinion.

Some of the bums over at Boxrec.com could give a **** less about him and are still on Pavlik and Taylor.

It's great that we have a Mijares realisation here on ESB, a lot of boxing fans go through here day to day. If Mijares or anybody close to him ever goes on here, I hope that they will enjoy the fact that we think the world of him and his efforts in the squared circle.

castillo will always be my guy at 115, but now that his skills have faded i'd like to see christian get the big opportunities/ recognition that did'nt go castillo's way earlier. i think it would have been a great fight between them prime for prime. sad that so much talent in the lower weights are overlooked by the majority of casual fans. count me in as a born again 'christian' too:thumbsup.

 ****...I was on the Travis Simms express along with Sues. At the time, I thought he presented a load of stylistic trouble to Mayweather.

Believe me, he presents a load of trouble to Mayweather stylistically, it's just the matter if he can pull himself to even act his advantages out. Which I HIGHLY doubt it, even so, he'd still be more trouble than Ricky Hatton was.

He's a good fighter, he gave away his last fight for whatever reason, mostly due to activity. He's nothing like a great fighter, but just a good solid top level at 154 who's likely got nothing left due to his age and the fact that he's ridiculously inactive.

Oh dont remind me of that distaster....:patsch

That guy had all the talent in the world. He was fast, strong as a bull, smart, active, great defense, unreal counter puncher, timing was amazing.....but WTF happened? He couldnt pull it all together.

One of the biggest wastes of talent Ive ever seen.

But yes, I got my ticket to the Mijares express. One way...no stops...

    :thumbsup

I think age and inactivity caught up to him.

Happy you have joined the train in full mate.:good

And I agree, I said in my post above what I thought of Simms, very, very good fighter that's become a total waste.

Amsterdam, does Mijares remind you of any supernaturals from the past?
