This is going to sound a bit odd, but he has some 'concept' stylistic comparisons to Ray Robinson.

Beautiful jab that's constant, high workrate, great defensive skill yet lacking defence at times due to being drawn into a firefight, great accuracy and beautiful to watch when manuvering in and out.

But of course, Robinson more powerful. Think about that for a second.

Now, not a Supernatural by any means, but he controls the ring and uses subtle defence like the great Monzon did and has Monzon like timing without the Monzon punch. In fact, his stance and foot positioning are very much like Monzon and he slips punches a lot like Monzon.

As a jabber(not sure if I rate this next phenom as a supernatural), he reminds me a bit of Arguello just as much as he does Robinson.

So, for his time, it doesn't get anymore Supernatural than Robinson. I'd say Hearns was a supernatural, but he fights nothing like Hearns, even as a jabber.

Who do you have in mind?

    Actually....Chava in a way...

(tho his life ended too quickly to really reach supernatural status...tho was well on his way)

He reminds me somewhat of a slower/less athletic Pernell Whitaker in the sense that he is a southpaw, always pumping out his piston-like jab, and keeping up a high workrate. He can even throw the jab with conviction off of the backfoot.

He's also very slippery and slick with a versatile defense (which he can adjust based on the fighter he is facing) and great footwork. Although there will never be another Sweet Pea, I see more of him in Mijares than I do Mayweather to be completely honest.

In terms of his short punches in close, he reminds me a little of Salvador Sanchez.

I see your point on Whitaker, what about my comparison to Ray? Is that merited or am I just being a fanboy?:yep

Hilarious enough, I'd rather compare him to Ray than Whitaker, as Whitaker to me is the best pure boxer of all time.

Mijares is great though, I'm very pleased to be a boxing fan during his active years. Very seldom am I captivated by a fighter.

    1. Defeat Munoz .. I will start appreciating his skills this time

    2. School Montiel .. I will let start my endoctrination for a new god

    3. Outsmart Darchinyan .. I'll start posting CJ's avatar as godly as yours

    4. Maul/TKO Donaire .. I'll begin soliciting funds for the building of your god's church..

Mijares is more than capable of accomplishing all of that. He would be the favorite in all those matches. If he could beat rafa at bantam mijares would jump into the top five mexican fighters of all time. I like everyone else here am really impressed with mijares. After seeing him easily outbox a good fighter in navarro, I was hooked!

It was hard for me to like Mijares for a while because he destroyed my favorite flyweight and the only guy I followed under 122 pounds since I started watching boxing. I thought Arce would score a KO win, but instead he was beaten like crazy for 12 rounds and looked like he wouldn't ever be the same again. Every time I would think about Mijares it would remind me of Arce's bloody face.

After realizing that liking Mijares wouldn't mean that I'm betraying Arce in any way I downloaded some of his fights and very impressed. I was also happy that Arce was beaten by such a skilled elite fighter and not just by some B+ level technical boxer. But enough about Arce. Mijares has one of the best jabs, if not the best in boxing and he fires it beautifully. His unique defense is fascinating to watch and his quick combinations are so sharp and accurate, it's amazing. Plus, he has a warrior mentality and doesn't play it safe even though he easily could. On top of his skills he also has a great chin. If he had great power.. god damn. Now that would make him God.

Mijares without a doubt will beat everyone from 112-115 without much trouble. He's only getting better and we haven't even seen him at his best yet.. I can't wait until he fights Montiel or Donaire. They would get owned.

To bad Tokuyama retired. he had a pretty good style to beat someone like Mijares. As it is Donaire and Montiel have a better chance than a lot of people seem to be giving them. Especially since they both have pretty big power advantage and Mijares has been hit and hurt a few times that I saw.

Now that you're coming on to Robinson, all you have to do is watch some Kid Gavilan(I'd love for you to watch his full fight with Graham on Youtube) to see that the best of the old-school fighters(as long as it's past a certain point) are by no means inferior, and are in fact fantastic.

Anyways, as far as supernaturals, what is your definition for them? I firgued Mijares would break yours. Is it a natural thing?

Supernatural is having tremendous skill, tremendous physical ability, having beautiful finesse, nearly always fighting to your full ability and having a warrior mentality on top of it. Has nothing to do with being ATG or anything like that.

Despite having supernatural ability, Floyd is not a supernatural.

    Whitaker is.

Surely such supernaturals dont have true p4p'ers able to walk through them! (by your own admission)
