I agree. Which is why even though I am rooting for Shane I'm ok with Floyd walking away as the winner so that Pacquiao will have a chance to give Mayweather his first loss in a colossal fight between the two. Doing that will boost his sealed legacy even further.

Yes, but it also means there is a much greater chance for you to have non competitive matches when you are not facing the top 2 or 3 of your division. As you can see with the variety of level of competition that an old ATG will face during his prime. He can face anotehr ATG in one day and 6 weeks later face my high school janitor. It was just the way it was since a lot of boxers needed to get paid (and gamblers needed to bet). Today can you imagine Manny, Floyd, or Bradley or whoever not facing at least the top ten in their division let alone someone with a losing record? Hell already breaks lose when a current champ not face a top 5 in his division.

Yes you are right with your implication that today's boxers are much more heavily managed in regards to competition. At the same time that is some what balanced in regards that 'tomato can crushing' (in regards to fighters record, not necessarily skill level) is almost non existent today to any highly rank fighter, especially a champion. That easily removes 15-25 wins for Pac or PBF.

Again, I am not devaluing the records of old ATGs. I am just saying that 1 to 1 comparison is a bit difficult when the business, science and politics of boxing is extremely different to now.

Yes I am, and you can certainly say it is a discussion - not fact.
As you can probably deduce I have Pac higher than you (17-25) and as well as PBF (35-45). Yes I agree that boxing is unique in some sense compared to other professional sports. Nevertheless, there are truisms that applies to boxing and as well as other sports.
