    They were all mob-connected. Heavily.

Some were lightly mob connected, but all fighters from that period had some underworld connections.

Sharkey always denied he took a dive. He said that the death of his friend In the ring against Primo affected his performance that night greatly. The ko blow appears to be a right wrist uppercut and it certainly seemed to land with force.

It was Sharkey who dragged the prone body of Schaaf back to his corner after the stoppage against Primo
In his second fight with Carnera , he said he saw a vision of Schaaf ,I'm inclined to think he saw a vision of a Smith & Wesson and a bag of cash, but each poster is entitled to his opinion. Certainly Carnera never showed or reproduced such "power" again.

I tend not to believe fixing a top hwt championship bout is possible. Biggest prize in all of sports, too many eyes watching and someone is bound to talk.

You guys overexaggerate the mobs involvement in boxing. You do realize that sort of thing was illegal right? lol

Not like everyone would be knowing about it. I'm sure fights were fixed at the lower levels but anywhere near the championship level much less THE heavyweight title is ludicrous. When Lamotta threw the fight with Billy Fox you saw how much attention that got. Imagine if it was the greatest title in the world at boxing's zenith.

Suspected mobsters would be killed in the street. There would be anarchy.
