I think Hatton could easily pull Mosley into fightng Hattons fight... That doesn't mean that Hatton would win, but that Mosley would not win easily..
I think that there is no question that Cotto has fought the better fighters at WW, but PBF has fought ODL at SWW so that has to count for something.
Speed PBF Defense PBF Footwork PBF Adaptability PBF Ring Smarts PBF Power Cotto 5th Gear Even Heart Even Level Of Comp PBF Timing PBF Chin PBF PBF has Cotto beat in almost every department. PBF wins this fight because he will be able to hit Cotto easier than Cotto will hit him. Cotto's lack of good defense is somthing that can't be overlooked in this fight and PBF will exploit it. Cotto's jab and ability to switch southpaw will give PBF problems but I see him making adjustments and pulling away in the second half of the fight. What Cotto does is something that PBF has seen before, Cotto has never seen anyone like PBF before.:deal
Hmmm....I thought I saw someone actually mention Floyd as having more power. I'm not shocked or surprised one can argue his power is underrated though I seriously doubt it. It seems to me after reading the majority of posts Cotto vs PBF would be a waste of time. PBF should just fight DLH again make millions and retire...there's no need to fight Cotto ESB experts have spoken....Cotto gets schooled and most likey TKO'd by a check hook followed by a barrage of rights.
Leonard had a lot of the same advantages over duran also, but look at what happened in their first fight. also, look at chavez. he was very similar to cotto. i just can't believe how so many people just completely write off cotto like some scrub who has no chance. anything can happen in boxing. Cotto has more than a chance.
The only problem I have with Brooklyn's assesment is that Cotto does not have power in both hands. His right hand is nowhere near as effective as his right. Mayweather is equally effective with both hands.
Is it really bothering you that much to bring this thread up that was started in feb? I could understand if Cotto fought Margo and beat him down like he did Gomez. Any elite fighter like Cotto will beat Gomez to a pulp 7 days a week. He didn't accomplish anything special this weekend that he hasn't already did. Let this thread go man.
Exactly the same an elite fighter at 147. Gomez wasn't in Cotto's class and I thought he would give him a sustained beating through 12 rounds.
If you're trying to be objective, then explain to me how you estimate Cotto's heart to be greater than Floyd's. At what point in Floyd's career did his heart fail him? Floyd has been in tough fights and always come out on top when things got messy. Just because he doesn't go shot-for-shot, and finds another way to win, does not mean he is a coward. Neither one need to be doubted in this department.
Its always nice to bring up old threads...... After saturdays events not much has changed, I always knew Cotto was an excellent boxer with underrated speed and technical ability. His jab did seem heavier than ever but it could be the lack of quality he was facing across the ring. On a side note....where is "SuperChile" he swore up and down Cotto was getting KTFO by Gomez.....what a loser :yep
You guys are FORGETTING ONE KEY ELEMENT: This content is protected And Cotto has Floyd beat in this department. Cotto is a more natural welterweight and an overall bigger, stronger, rougher guy. His style and past performances give light to this. Also, what about This content is protected At this weight, Floyd isn't the combination puncher that he was at lower weights, so the style advantage may go to Cotto, because when a boxer doesn't have enough power to keep his opponent timid, the VOLUME PUNCHER as the STYLISTIC ADVANTAGE OVER THE BOXER. It's up to Floyd's personal tallent that will overcome what I see to be a stylistic disadvantage considering his opponent is fast, throws a jab, and throws a lot of punches to get his guys out of there. Not to mention, he kept Judah's punch output to a VERY VERY limited amount. So it's not just about speed or power. As the old saying goes, STYLES MAKE FIGHTS, and at this weight, Floyd can beat anyone, but he isn't the dominant force that he was at lower weights.
