How much chance was Patterson given in Liston II?

Were there people who thought Patterson could fight a smart fight instead of coming right at Liston like he did the first time? Or were they mostly people who picked Patterson because he was a good guy and Liston was the bad convict?

Comments from Bummy Davis, Old Fogey and John Garfield would be highly appreciated.

From what I've read, the experts as well as the fans didn't give Patterson much of a chance. There was a minority of ex-champs and fans who thought that if Floyd tried to stay away and box Sonny that he might last longer, but Liston was looked upon as a monster of a man who would rule the roost for many years, and was virtually unbeatable.
