This question is directed at competing boxers not just trainers.

When you go to your boxing gym, how much actual coaching do u get from the coaches or are u mostly training yourself e.g just doing bag work and conditioning stuff urself?

During actually fight practices and such not so much. They really help those who need it on form and what not. A couple buddies of mine and me either come early or stay after and spar regularly and often, and one of our trainers will almost always stand right there yelling from the ropes helping us. Last night me and a buddy did a simple hour class, worked out for about an hour then sparred for ten 3 minute rounds. I got so tired and sloppy. I started stepping straight back and leaning with my right, so I took a couple good straights... I look like ****ing ruddolf right now with a big, red, swollen nose, and a cut lip.

Most kids can't afford personalized instruction, so they get whatever the trainer gives them. Since most trainers have a limited amount of time, they tend to concentrate on the kids they believe will go somewhere. It is your job to convince whoever is training you that you have a future in boxing. That is usually accomplished by more effort and less idleness.

That doesn't answer my question. I was trying to have a look at various peoples responces.

I don't go to a boxing gym and my trainer is rakim, I get way to much coaching for my liking considering my coach looks even worse than before he started visiting the gym 3-4 times a week.

Luckily enough, loads. Two different trainers who help everyday during the evening, and another for the earlier times when the younger kids usually come in. Usually average at least six rounds of pad work every day, plus they are very constructive during sparring. They want to see their fighters improve, and do everything they can to ensure that they do.
