How much corruption and cheating would be necessary for Terrell to beat a prime Ali?

Yeah, now that I think about it, that's probably the only thing that evens the playing field enough (aside from outright fixes, illness, poisoning.)

Even removing the stuffing from the gloves probably wouldn't do much. I think Ali's chin could take MMA glove punches from Terrell, frankly.

Terrell just wasn't on Ali's level. So you'd somehow have to amplify the effects of the punches that he did land. Of course in the real world the other fighter would feel that there was something heavy and solid in the other guy's gloves ... Ali W Round 1 by DQ. Unless you manage to buy out the ref and all the ring officials too.

But at this point the conspiracy is getting as large as the one that brought down poor Wilder ;)

Indeed. I could just barely see a fouling, roided, stinging irritant using, stimulant-fueled Terrell getting away with all of the above cheating -- maybe even one with tampered gloves. But I think you're right that brass knuckles are a bridge too far.

If a fighter finishes a fight on their feet?

I have seen some absolutely incomprehensible decisions, that bore no relation to what happened in the ring!

Ali wouldn't even drop Dundee even though NOI told him to
