How much credit do you give Joe Gallagher for Callum Smith win

I just find it near impossible to credit Gallagher for how boring his fighters are. Who is to say his fighters wouldn't have been better with a better trainer. I just hate his lack of plan B or creativity in his game plans. Also how he won trainer of the year is baffling.

 

What we call the Gallaghers style is actually a style, mostly developed in Manchester starting out with Brian Hughes and then a mish mash of trainers adding their own slant to it. The theory is to drag your opponent into deep waters, then when he starts gasping for air, drown the fukcer.
Crolla vs Barrosa was a typical example.

 

He won despite the handicap of Gallagher in the corner - the shite he spouted during the fight was awful.

Wait until Smith is losing a fight and listen to Gallagher - the man has no plan B and talks turd

 

Not much, I believe Callum Smith is a natural talent, give him more credit for some of Crollas wins TBH.

 

Quigg left the stable ages ago. Paul Smith retired.

Joe Gallagher gets slated on here, but facts are he has current and former world champions in his stable. Callum Smith is currently one of only five fighters in the world to hold a ring magazine belt. He got him in fantastic condition for the Groves fight and put together an effective game plan for Smith to follow. It worked. He deserves full credit for that, along with the successes of the other fighters in his stable that have held world titles. It’s not always the most eye catching of styles but it’s based on developing the solid fundamentals, working behind the jab, chipping away at opponents. The lads in his stable clearly believe in his methods.

 

Gallagher gets a lot of stick on here for his lack of plan B and rightly so but he should be given credit for the success he’s had with fighters such as Crolla. Also if you look at the likes of Quigg I would say he’s went backwards since leaving Gallagher for Roach

 

Gallagher gets some right stick wherever he appears. I noticed IFL disabled the comments section on his latest interview hahaha! I don't think I have ever seen that before. Poor Joe.

 

Callum Smith is a natural talent. However it’s been nurtured from the start by Gallagher. He deserves some praise he’s had multiple world champions and got another fighter fighting in a world title fight on Saturday, he’s got to be doing something right.

 

Joe g is the right trainer... For a certain kind of boxer. ... "The .tough but limited" mid-range on the ability scale kind. He can take a guy who is physically tough and prepared to put othe work needed to get really fit and MAXImISE that guys potential. A guy with little ability would get nowhere with Joe. ... Similarly a top talent would be wasted with Joe g as Joe would never develop him to his Max potential... ..

Since a lot of British boxers fall into that category. ...that explains Joe's success.

Give Joe credit for hard work and dedication... . But little else.

What sort of a person is Joe.... Is he a nice guy? Is he likeable ?

 

How many 'tough, but limited' boxers from Gallagher's gym need to become world champions before you would say that he's a good trainer? And how can he only develop boxers of a certain style and level of ability? That makes no sense to me whatsoever pal.

 

Gallagher got caught up in his own hype tbh, a big head now with a dwindling camp for a reason. Callum had his brothers to help or he’d be a no one but he can fight and has natural power and like him a lot.

 

You've got the right idea but.. You're asking the wrong question . . It's a question of how many other types of boxers have got to the top with Joe? The answer is zero. They're all the same. They're all as I described.... Tough, fit, huge at their weight and...wait for it.. limited.

I think Joe G does have most of his fighters fighting a similar way, but not alwsys, Cardle never fought the same as the rest (would have done better if he did), Smith certainly didn't v Groves. He has had several world champions, how many British trainers can claim that ?
