How much credit does Calzaghe get for beating Jones?

I dont think he will get much at all. In the same way Holmes win over Ali is never talked about and the same way Lewis's win over a shot Tyson is dismissed.

But Joe should be remembered for his dominance at his weight and his 4 sig wins.

Chris Eubank - may have been 33 but Joe was stepping up and lacked experience

Jeff Lacy - A confident ko artist that was expected to retire Calzaghe

Mikkel Kessler - Unified champ and considered the new dominant force at SMW

Bernard Hopkins - Old man? nah he was top 5 p4p and just beat Winky and Tarver

He doesnt deserve much, but its a fair trade off;big payday, but does little else for his record or legacy.
Im sure he can live with it though.

Joe gets no credit for this, it's just one for the retirement fund. He should have fought Jones years ago.

True but Calzaghe wasnt even on Jones radar until he beat Lacy. Its all very way saying he should have fought him and him etc. But it takes 2 to tango.

Jones didn't need to fight Calaghe to secure his place in the history books. Joe might not have been "on the radar", but he would have been if had wanted to be.

It depends how well he performs on the night given Jones' level of performance, just as per usual...

It depends on how good RJJ looks. RJJ is still a good fighter and would probably beat all the other men at 175 but he is ot the RJJ of old. Joe should come through with the win and it should be a good fight but he really needs to impress if he wants the fight to add towards his legacy andf not just be known as a money spinner.

The super middle weight and light heavy weight divisions are very poor at the moment so any opponent he could have chosen would have been ridiculed.

you calzaghe fans said the same thing before the hopkins fight, you said that you would only be satisifed if he knocks out bernard hopkins, now you use his controversial victory over a 43 year old bernard hopkins to say that he is the greatest of this generation.

I dont think he will get much credit especially if its a boring fight or worse still a draw,
I think more will depend on the the manner of the victory(thats if he wins of course)

The rest of the 175 division is a joke.
