How much credit should Mayweather get for his win over Mosley?

    What do you think?

Although I had picked Mayweather to beat Mosley by UD, I was stunned by his performance last night. I was expecting a closer fight, with Mosley being able to give problems to Mayweather at times, with Floyd eventually winning more rounds to get a decision (something in the 8-4 or 7-5 department). But the way he adjusted immediately after getting hurt and totally dominated a guy who would beat most of today's top Welterweights really amazed me.

I was also extremely buffled and bewildered with the loud voices of 'haters' on this board who immediately rushed to discredit Mayweather's effort, coming up with all kinds of excuses to downplay that win. I even heard that Amir Khan (if he had a chin) and Timothy Bradley would beat Mayweather.

I also heard that Mayweather is scared of Pacquiao, that's why he didn't fight him and chose Mosley over him. I would really like to know if those were the same people that screamed 'Mayweather is scared to fight Mosley' before the fight was finally made.

Another laughable and lame 'point' that was brought up is that suddenly the Welterweight division 'sucks' and 'is worse than ever before', whereas just some months ago people went on about how good and stacked with talent the division was. Seems the division became shitty as quickly as Mosley became shot.

Now, there were some people (very few of them) who actually stood by their point that Mosley is shot BEFORE the fight, and although I disagree with them, their view is well respected, as it was genuine and didn't come simply as an excuse only AFTER the fight had ended.

Imo Mayweather did what he was supposed to do, but not only he did it convincingly, he did it with a style and an attitude that we hadn't seen before. He rarely backed away, instead he stood his ground and managed to back up a dangerous, fast fighter, with extreme success.

Mosley surely is past his best, but he's in no way the shot and bascially average guy that some present him to be. No fighter managed to make him look as bad as Mayweather did for the last 6 years. Yes, age definitely plays a considerable role, but Mosley still beats most of the top Welterweights out there right now, and a win over him even at this point (and considering the way it was achieved) means a lot.

I think Mayweather deserves much credit for what he did in the ring with Mosley.

    Where does ESB stand?

Floyd should get credit for beating a 38-yr-old who hasn't fought for over a year.

Next he should challenge Muahammed Ali sure he's 100 yrs old with Parkinson's but Ali is an ALL TIME GREAT. It's the fight 44 years in the making!!! OMG!

I certainly don't speak for ESB, but I think he deserves a good amount of credit. I thought PBF would cruise to an 8-4 victory and making it look like he could have done much better easily(see his fight with Oscar). I felt that Mosley was a live dog in the fight who really had no shot at all outside of a KO, but even so I think it's the best fight that could have been made outside of Pacquaio (and I don't give a **** whose fault it is). I still think that had Mosley not taken 16 months off he'd be able to make it more competitive but lose a clear decision. In the end, Mayweather is head and shoulders above Mosley at this stage but you still have to beat him...and he beat him with ease.

    Absolute credit.

Those that have voted "Mosley is shot" need to re-evaluate their lives.

That was a very impressive win for Floyd. Shane came out and was ready. He landed early and showed he could make it a fight. Floyd adjusted and just outsmarted Mosley, the guy had no clue midway. It was definitely impressive.

  7. Shane looked very much affected by the excessive blood testing.

I hope we watched the same fight. The same fight where Mosley did NOTHING to try to hurt floyd after the 2nd round. Credit that to Floyd being a great adjuster, or the greatest fighter of all time, but who knows really?

Shane looked spent after the 2nd. Breathing from his mouth and could hardly speak in between rounds because he was breathing so hard. I give Floyd credit because he did what he should have done with he had Mosley backing up and not throwing any punches.

  13. Actually Mosley was tested more than Mayweather was.

I said BEFORE the fight that it would be a fairly easy and one-sided fight against an old and inactive fighter.

    and it was.

I'd like to wait and see what Mosley does next and how he looks in his next fight. From what I saw, I think he lost a step or two during the lay-off, and I would hesitate to pick him over the likes of Clottey or Berto were he to fight them at the moment. I think he's a top 5 welter, but not as good as he was when he beat Marg, and far from as good as he was when he beat DLH. I give Floyd props for fighting someone he should have, and nearly shutting out a top welterweight fighter. That's all I can say until I see how Mosley does against other top welters.
