imo, pacquiaos task was never a difficult one against clottey. he never came to fight and he didnt throw any meaningful punches, even the uppercuts were pushed through with no real venom. I personally think pac gets no more credit than he should in a sparring match, which is what this fight was. any thoughts?... :think

I would have predicted Clottey by devastation 3-4 years ago...so it's lots.

but this is now and pac is more skilled now. hes beaten better fighters in cotto and hatton so is this a dive in opposition for him? i think so!!

how much credit did you give mayweather for beating marquez? :think

Mayweather gets very little credit for the Marquez win and rightly so.

Pac certainly didn't move up any spots in my ATG P4P list for beating Clottey; I saw it more as affirming his ability IMO, and showing again that he can take a punch at the weight.

I give him a bit of credit. Clottey was still a top 5 welterweight IMO when they met and had never been dominated in a fight before. Having said that, the result was never in question.

I would agree with this, although I would say Pac deserves "a bit" of credit. Main reason is Clottely is a big guy who has only ever lost in narrow, competitive matches with the best in the division. Therefore Pac deserves a bit of credit for dominating him the way he did, even though that was partially due to Clottey's mentality.

I'm not saying it improves his ATG ranking, but he gets full credit for the victory. Clottey was perfectly healthy, and is a good contender and has been for years. Former world champion, in fact. Lots of credit.

Lots of credit I think. Clottey is a top Welter and Pac didn't give him a look in. If any WW had beaten Clottey that completely they would have been given plenty of credit, why not Pac?

Agreed. I'd give him a lot of credit too.

If we try to gauge either Floyd or Pac beating one another there will have to be an 'ultimate kudos' option.

:deal A bit of credit. Clottey's style was always going to make for an easy night for Pac but he has proven that he can take on a top rated WW at the full WW limit.

Well if the highest option here is 'a lot of credit' imagine which hyperbolic statement will be the top of the list if were judging how much credit we'd give to the winner of a super fight like Floyd vs Manny?!?

Ah right, I think I'll just go with shitloads of credit

Oh ya and you were right about Louis' KO combo in the second Conn fight, that was brutal.

i think pacquiao gets as much credit for beating clottey as mayweather got for beating marquez. both werent exactly step up in competition, fans knew what would happen in both fights, and they were both carefully picked opponents to make pac and mayweather look good.

i dont think pacquiao took any really meaningful punches in this fight. i have said this about 100 times in this forum but the uppercuts that clottey threw had no real venom or sting in them. he took better punches from cotto imo. i will add tho, at least marquez put up some sort of fight :hey but imo, both pac and mayweather get average credit for fighting the fighters they did.
