Personally, I think the win will be largely discredited on the basis of Hopkins' age, losses, and decline in recent performances, ala Jones vs McCallum.

    And rightfully so.

I really like this fight. Its a fight that is a double edge sword for Cazalghe and his fans. If he wins its going to be good and bad. If he loses its going to be bad and worst.

Reason I say that is, if Cazlghe wins the fight he isnt going to get much credit from most after all Hopkins is 43 years. If its a close fight Cazlaghe cant win either way. Im not saying one the cards but in public eyes. He has to blown Hopkins out, he isnt going to get that YOUNG lion label that Taylor got.

If Joe loses he or his fans wont really be able to use that FAMES European line..when thier fighter gets beat..."Oh he was clearly past it" Hopkins is 43 fuking years old.

Now with that out of the way....I personally would give Joe a ton of credit. I think that it still takes a good fighter and some work to beat Hopkins. The guy is sooo smart in the ring, and at the same time dirty. I think that Joe will have his hands full in this fight and Im interested in seeing how he deals with things that no other guy he has ever faced will bring. Which is the reason that I would give him a ton of credit.

If Calzaghe wins then tbh it doesn't mean all that much - the victory against Kessler will probably mean more.

If Old ******* were to get the 'W' though, I would finally consider him a truly great fighter - I don't at this point.

I wanted to vote for something between "average" and "lots of credibility". Something like "good credibility". The poll is set up bad, asif an option beyond "huge credibility" was needed anyway.

However, much depends on how Calzaghe wins (if he wins).

If he puts on a dominant performance, winning 9 or more rounds (which i expect), then it would be a great win.

If he wins by close decision, then it's a good win. Let's not forget Calzaghe is 35 or 36 himself and relies a lot on reflexes/workrate.

Come to think of it, if Calzaghe puts on a dominant performance, a lot of people will just say "Hopkins was shot", etc, not realising that Taylor barely edged him in two fights and that he beat Tarver and hasn't really been beaten decisively since Roy Jones in '93.
