How much credit you give Monzon for beating Napoles?

Napoles looked good before the fight but in this fight got a good start and faded abit because of Monzon and the cut/swelling i cant remember.

Napoles did go on a decline after this fight and was alot slower. Theres a good article on SI about Napoles fight with Lewis 2, mentions his decline and what has happened to him

I think most including Dundee figured Monzon would use his size and strength to try and maul Napoles ala Benvenuti but it was not to be. He mostly used his size and strength to keep Napoles out of range and picked him apart from the outside.

I think this fight shows off Monzon's accuracy and timing quite well. How many people can say that they timed Jose Napoles and had their fists magnetized to his face?

It goes beyond a mere size discepancy..Monzon was in no hurry, and almost casually took one of the greatest welters of history apart...and any skeptics would do well to come across some 70's era accounts of how damned good Mantequilla was. Monzon's treatment of him caused Angelo Dundee to call Monzon a "super champion".
