I have several non boxing mates who tuned in to watch Haye vs Harrison. We all know what happened. I knew Harrison was a joke going into the fight and posted that the fight was a mismatch. Haye was cashing in picking Harrison and it was nothing more than a con to make money. The fight cost casual fans 15 quid and it was a joke. THEN Haye says he bet on himself in the third round which people still haven't forgotten. Many casuals were really turned off and vowed to never spend their hard earned on boxing again.

The ones who werent turned off paid 15 quid to watch Haye "decapitate"/"destroy"/"batter" the "robotic" wladdy klitschko. haye puts on a horrifically boring fight for the casual fans who again feel robbed and will be less likely to shell out 15 quid again.

Haye has turned many casuals off boxing. Sky have probably been turned off from putting on PPVs like this for fear of few buys after what Haye has done.

Make no mistake, David Haye has seriously damaged British Boxing.

I'd say the large TV viewing TV figures for Fury vs Chisora were off the back of Haye's antics.

Fury vs Chisora got way more wide scale media coverage than it would have normally got.

Every youngster watched Haye-Klitschko and were cussing him halfway through, gutted, let down and turned off.

Fury-Chisora was more for the older generation.

I agree totally. He has damaged boxings reputation a lot over here. The casual fans have turned off. They now think boxing is a joke and a waste of time and a big let down every time. David Haye has done this single handedly. We,ve all seen PPVs which let us down a bit, but David Haye has probabaly killed PPV once and for all in Britain. The casuals wont fall for it again. He has killed it.

    Sky must be so wounded.

Yeah, because the myriad sanctioning bodies, the hometown decisions, blatant corruption and greedy politics weren't hurting the sport at all before David haye showed up.

People were turned off boxing a long, long time ago. Haye promised to restore interest and failed. All he's guilty of is not fixing things like he said he would. Boxing was ****ed up long before he got folks' attention.

find it hard to believe some of you guys are still slagging off haye - you should be happy for him - i though he would be stopped before round 7 so to last 12 rounds and to cause a little damage i think the guy done extremely well ..

Slightly harsh on Haye, considering what he was like as a cruiser on setanta.

His ppv vs valuev despite being boring "won him the world title" so every casual fan was happy. Also it was an easy one to market (david goliath)
Then the defence against ruiz made haye look good as his opponent was shot, once again casual fans happy and still on the haye wagon.
Harrison fight was a Joke, but generated a lot of hype mainly cause Audley did an exellent job of selling it to the public.
Klitscko fight was the biggest hw fight in the last ten years, not sure on ppv figures but im sure it outsold the above.

The point im trying to make is that as long as a fight is marketed correctly and there is enough time for casuals to get involved in all the hype then people will still tune in.

That said I dont think Haye vs anyone other than a kiltshcko would sell that well on the back of his bitching antics over the toe, and the fact that he maye of pissed of a lot of people.

All about the build up imo to get people intrested

Sadly what Haye has done is turn off an awful lot of armchair fans. I had a big crowd round at mine for it, done a bbq and made and evening out of it. None of my mates are massive into boxing and the fight done nothing to help. What made it ten times worse for Haye was the little toe excuse. It just wound everyone up, and most went home thinking Haye was an absolute *****.

Had same buch round for fury/chis this weekend and all commented on how much better it was, after two rounds someone made the point that it was already better than haye fight.

Sadly i think there are an awful lot of casual fans who wont be tuning in for a while.

Bollocks like this is always spouted after a PPV goes poorly. It will have no effect, people move on. People are not stupid enough not to realize each fight and fighter is different. Thats sport, whether they're casual fans or not they realize sport is unpredictable.

The credibility of boxing in this country was in the toilet long before Haye/Harrison, Haye just gave it a couple of extra flushes for good measure. You can blame FW and his bum of the month cards being shown on SKY PPV for that:deal

I wasnt very pleased when Haye side stepped the Klits for the paper WBA title but you can understand why he did it. It was his only realistic chance of a HW title and would bring some weight to the negotiating table. The Valuev fight was pretty boring but always had the 'freakshow' element for casuals.

When he signed to fight Fraudley that was the moment he lost his credibility and became a joke in my eyes.

In terms of him damaging the casual viewer ratings? I dont think joe public have very long memories and seem to constantly get sucked into the sky media hype prior to events.
