how much dangerous would be ron lyle for marciano?

  1. well, i think that that in the history rocky is much higher but if we are talking h2h stylistically ron lyle would be a nightmare for rocky, he was physically stronger than any rival of marciano yes (walcott included), ron lyle was 6´3 220 pounds of solid muscle, he could take a very good punch, and he could fight like a warrior after being dropped , honestly i think that ron lyle would have chance to beat rocky marciano once, i would put my money on that lyle would knock down rocky . lyle was 35 pounds heavier than rocky, he had longer reach, he was stronger than rocky (not pfp but h2h he was), and rocky was not the fast counter puncher who was quarry or an stylist like jimmy young, lyle would have advantage in the style.
    what do you think guys?

    Prety dangerous.

In these types of fantasy fights the more proven fighter has to be given the benefit of the doubt, but as Marciano's manager I would steer him clear of this fight.

Lyle struggled with Quarry (<Rocco) but Rocco struggled with Wright (<Lyle) . Could have really gone either way but I slightly favor Rocco because he was a bit more proven than Lyle . It would not be easy 4 d winner whomever he will b .

  4. i think that lyle was as proven if not more, he did pretty well against ali, foreman, bonavena, ellis, and quarry ( this fight was closer than many think), joe bugner,,earnie shavers ,buster mathis... marciano faced a shot joe louis (who lyle would ko), he faced a past prime jersey joe walcott, and ezzard charles was the best man who faced marciano, probably charles had the style to beat lyle, but also foreman and ali would beat rocky.

I was never sold on ali "beating" Rocco , but it's a possibility .
If douglas jones , henry cooper & george chuvalo did 2 ali what they did then who knows with rocco . I need 2c ali vs lyle 2 know how legit it was . maybe i did watch it but i don't remember much . possibly legit but who knows what happened behind d curtains / inside ali's gloves (i know it wasn't due 2 cuts , at least not directly ) quarry vs lyle was really far from a beating , but if quarry was competitive with lyle then rocco would have done better , that was d idea .
losing by stoppage 2 ali (criminal acts & cuts not included) takes away a lot of what lyle achieved . and he even wasn't some poor midget there . 2 his credit ppl always talk about ali's deterioration , but will never mention that lyle was older .

  6. you know that ali was not in his prime when he faced these guys, he was green, rocky would stop clay who faced cooper.chuvalo was owned by ali, also chuvalo was 6´0 and a solid 215 pounder, stronger than marciano faster and bigger, ali in his prime was in the years 65-67.and ali 70-76 would be very capable to beat rocky, rocky was nothing like quarry, jerry was a was counter puncher, rocky was even smaller than quarry ( around 15 pounds lighter) he was much more static than jerry and of course quarry was much faster on his feet and with the hands.i know that marciano had more hitting power than quarry, but quarry did not beat lyle cause his hitting power....

Dangerous, but he could run out of steam if he doesn't land the big one, becoming a 6'3, 220 pound heavy bag for Marciano to beat on.

Lyle would have a punchers chance and might floor Rocky, but I see Rocky weathering some early rounds and eventually stopping Ron. Good matchup!

suppose . but even if so then that was d fastest version of clay , d clay that was fast . (if i go along with u then) prime ali was not as fast as green clay .
stronger maybe faster IDK , I doubt it .
And chuvalo owned ali in their first encounter and was never owned by ali .
Those 15 lbs were pure lard that Quarry carried in2 his fights . Quarry was taller but had less muscle .
quarry did not beat lyle . despite of how it's listed in boxrec .
rocco was also a better finisher than quarry and had more fighting spirit .

Quarry used movement and counter punching ability to throw Lyle off his game and occasional power to keep him off ... a completely different style than Rocky ... This is a dangerous fight for Rocky ... I favor Lyle but Rocky could turn it around with a good shot ...

Why? Lyle is not an all time great puncher, doesn't possess great skills, and doesn't have amazing speed, and he isn't too tall/big...more importantly lyle will get tired as the fight goes on...I like this matchup for Rocky. Lyle was a beast, but he wasn't half the fighter Marciano was...Rocky would wear him down.

Lyle was 6'3", had ten inches of reach, twenty eight pounds of muscle and was a nasty puncher ... if he teed off from the outside it would not be a long night ... however, if he got foolish and caught no doubt to me Rocky could take him out ... a very interesting fight ..

Lyle was easier to hit than Marciano, and Lyle had slow reflexes, and was stationary target. Bad match up for Lyle.

I had ringside tickets to the Quarry Lyle fight and Quarry dominated him, he hurt and wobbled Lyle and Ron was gun-shy therein ...I think Marciano fighting out of the lean back and spring position would upset Ron's Rhythm and there would be a few exchanges but I expect a Layne like KO for the Rock...it boils down to power not muscles and Rocky had mucho power for Lyle, durable but Rocks relentless and energetic beating of a big slow target breaks Ron down for another KO win for Rocky
