Now we know pacman battered cotto for the last 5-6 rounds of their fight win cotto running away near the end, but now with PAC-PBF coming up I'm wondering:

1-how much damage did cotto manage to do in he rounds he was active? I mean it seemed obvious cotto would come out bad looking because he was getting fast flush punches all night but i was shocked when I saw how bad PAC man looked. (makes you wonder how much more damage a better version of cotto could have done to him).

2-does pacman need more time to recover? PBF is a master technician and has the ability to exploit weaknesses

3-what are the official injuries pacman and co reported

1- Aside from his right ear, he didn't look that bad. No worse than he looked after fighting Larios. Cotto did damage, but not that much, because in the 12th, Pac still looked relatively fresh, and hey, he had a damn concert after the fight! Someone who was hurt couldn't have done that.

2- I wouldn't say he needs more time to recover, but definitely more time to train for a guy as good as Mayweather. I could have waited until May...

3- Busted eardrum is all I heard.

he's in his prime...nuff said about injury this and recovery time. He took more shots from Marquez than he did with Cotto.

Maybe with the busted eardrum he'll hear less of the Mayweathers talking smack? It might actually prove to be helpful

not that anyone will understand Floyd Sr's words anyway...

for the record, ive looked into it and have YET to see any credible source cite a -busted ear drum-

    Arums words, not mine
    11-16-2009
".... its nothing. Its a minor thing, he never went to the hospital and the doctor treated him the night of the fight and treated him today."

"its something you treat so he doesnt end up with couliflower ear"

that was from the scene about boxing...

    another link regarding the 'injury'

    http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache...&ct=clnk&gl=us

I would like to know where people are getting this 'ruptured eardrum' information.... please inform me because i simply have never heard of it, and until i see a credible source, i dont believe it. People are just hearing it around forums as far as i can see and repeating it as truth, which is common.

But if he does indeed have a legit injury then i admit i am wrong, i simply havnt seen or heard anything to make me believe he really has

Pac didnt take any unusual ammount of punishment from cotto at all..... and his last three fights prior (diaz, hoya and hatton) he took almost no punishment.... hes had a good run and is good to go.

He's in his prime. He's never been seriously injured. He's always been supremely fit just like the guy he's about to fight. As long as he's healthy, which going by the lastest videos, he looks good and all should be fine. I was wondering too about his ear, but he from the outside looks good.

I'm not about to make excuses for Pacquiao especially since the man doesn't make excuses himself.

yea but cotto's shot hurt him more than marquez did. Even a jab from cotto knock pac's head back.

true enough, maybe the reason people think Pac was badly busted up because he's been pretty much untouched the past 3 fights before cotto...

Pac ain't been hurt like that since Marquez II. Fortunately, Floyd sucks and would get TKO'd by any legit WW, which is why he avoids fighting them like Pauli Malignaggi avoids naked women.

it doesn't mean that you look ok and have made a concert after the fight you are really ok. he took a pounding on his head, ears and body. if you seriously believe it would not take out of a fighter, then you are kidding yourself. heck even fighting again in just a couple of months, even without sustaining major injuries, would punish your body. imagine 2 to 3 months of rigorous training and activity, at least 1 month to heal the wounds and you don't have time to recuperate your strained muscles due to training.

The eardrum can rupture just from the pressure caused by a severe hematoma like the one Manny was sporting after the fight. I think it was the hook Cotto landed in the 2nd that started the swelling. Manny absorbed a couple more hooks later in the fight, so it's not unreasonable to think he suffered a busted eardrum.

Pac should be okay. He had a busted eardrum but went out and performed after the fight at a concert.

Cotto did some damage. . .despite never really getting his offense going and never really turning up the heat like I thought he would. Honestly, Pac looked more ****ed up than I thought he would sorta like AA did after Taylor.

On the flip side, I don't see PBF inflicting a severe physical beating on Pac. He's just not that type of fighter. He did severely damage Corley, Gatti, and Corrales but I don't think he'll do that to Pac. Hell, he didn't even bust up JMM at all really despite shutting him out.
