The news of Haye's bounced cheque is a verified news report.

As TheHayemaker initially stated: "Yeah because everyone who thinks Haye has money problems is a hater. FFS the evidence is staring you right in front of your face yet people keep putting their fingers in their ears whilst saying 'la la la I'm not listening' like little kids."

Guilty as charged are you. ;)

Knew he was known for cheating on his mrs but if divorce is coming that makes sense for the comeback.

didn't he sleep with like over 300 escorts are something - boys, girls and trannies,

if he was using high end services then you are looking at 1k an hour - 300k just for ***

or was this just a rumour?

There are few sights sadder than seeing a bunch of grown men debating and speculating on a man's financial affairs. It's the equivalent of a bunch of women critiquing a celebrity's fashion sense. Get a grip and just let the man box. Who cares if he's doing it for money?

The problem is people like yourself don't know GROSS from NET. You see some number in the press (which is a gross purse) and you naively believe Haye can take all that home and take it to the bank. Without paying managers, trainers, expenses, training camps, sparring partners, travel, marketing, lawyers and of course without any taxes neither.

Anyone with an ounce of intellect can see the sheer ecstasy Haye was basking in as he walked down towards the ring. After the fight you could see the raw emotion on display. This guy has been boxing for 25 years, it's his life ffs, and he's got it back. He didnt want to retire but injury forced him out of the sport prematurely, he had to work hard as hell to rehab that shoulder...Now that he is fit again and making his comeback the automatic assumption is that he's broke and only doing it for the money? Imbecilic.

Well said, too many negative assumptions made on here. You'd think becoming a two division weight champion in the past and getting himself into great shape after 3 years out would be enough to get a bit more respect, I guess not.

That is a very good post mate,

I always thought that when Haye kept telling everyone that he would retire at 30 he was putting pressure on himself needlessly. A boxing career is very short and I think that the injuries suffered by him will make him even more appreciative of the time he has left in boxing.

He looked in very good shape last night and looks like he has been working very hard in the gym but he will need to get better fighters that will provide a stiffer test if he really is serious about reclaiming a world title!

You're correct -- that figure I stared (a figure verified by Forbes, and not just some figure I plucked out of the air) was $30 million gross. Haye's net worth, after taxes, trainer's fees and training camp expenditures, would likely have been around half that.

So, you see, I do know the difference between Gross and Net. It's just that you appeared to be somewhat bewildered by my failure to disclose which of the two it was, when I stated that initial figure in my post. ;)
