How,your feet are planted firmly on the mat, spread apart,if that was the case then both fighters were "off balance" 50% of the fight..

I dont believe any trainer would allow a guy to come into a boxing club and allow him to take a sqared up stance because you will fall over WAY too much.

The center of your body's gravity is ...well ...in the center of your body.
The legs , the waist are designed to bend and fold with that gravity.

A baby toddler will more than likely fall on their bum when they fall.

When you are ready to take a seat and sit down . Your feet are usally parrelell to each other as your bum starts to poke out and move downward to sit.

Think of how easy it is to sit down when your feet are squared. Now ... instead of doing that move one foot well behind the other to sit down . Its much harder to go down untill you shift that gravity away form your back leg. The pressure of that gravity will probably focus on that back leg and you may feel it directly in your knee area.

So if your left leg is forward and your right is back further , you would have to shift your gravity away form the back foot more to the left which forces you to lose balance again.

Have someone push you with your feet lined up togehter and then try it with your feet split with one firmly behind the other. You will clearly see how truly "off balance " you are

Cottos confiedence probably recieved a big boost but that must have come crashing down when he started getting beat up and running for dear life.

It wasn't that hard of a jab. Just a well placed punchh as Clottey was lunging off his feet with a left hook. That's what caused the knockdown.

Getting beat up??? What fight were you watching?
Joshua didnt even bobble Cotton once in the entire fight and mind you Cotto fought with a (bleeding *****) on top of his left eye for close to 9 rounds....Had that been any other boxer i.e Oscar, Tito, Margarito, or Mosley (all great finishers) Cotto would had been out of there by the 6th round.....

agreed. although clottey was in the middle of throwing a punch and was off balance. it was a perfectly timed jab.
