is it a sign of something to come, a slide, a loss in his ability to adjust and grow as a fighter

or is it a blip, a bad night, poor strategy, poor preparation and just losing to a guy who was all wrong

Canelo had dominated 168 and got by countering and scoring big punches to turn fights even against talented mobile boxers. Maybe the loss will serve as an awakening for him to shore up other parts of his game and be a learning experience

I'm curious to see what changes come September

He didn't take a beating? He was just completely outboxed and made to look pedestrian.

 

No beating, he just lost to a better 175 pounder. Maybe he will go back to what was effective for him i.e., effective counters and combinations instead of relying on loading up on power shots. I never saw him as a puncher, I always thought he had decent power which added to his complete arsenal.

 

He can compete with those bigger guys undoubtedly so he's clearly a talent but the hype and arrogance was off the charts from him and his fans lately so I love threads like this… I mean they were talking about beating Usyk ffs.. did they forget this guy clearly lost to Golovkin twice? I know most of them wont admit it but they know deep down.. Bivol really did set the boxing landscape to rights again and put those idiots back in their boxes.. great fighter, bring on Beterviev..
