S, that statement was not hyberbole. IT WAS said by SRR soon after the tragic death of Jimmy Doyle, and was soon a quoted statement ...Robinson
    felt he was "royalty"....

SRR was a cunning, conniving, SOB, always cozying-up to the press 'n autographing for little kids to keep his gentlemanly image intact, but it was all a performance. Below that public facade, he was 100% heartless predator...'n the best -- most thrilling -- fighter I've ever seen.

Cheers John. The more I read & view the more I see a flawed character but undoubtedly an astonishing fighter.

"I have to be the beast, I have to be the savage." - Mike Tyson

His ruthlessness was so strong it overflowed beyond the ring. This same ruthlessness aided him in becoming the GOAT.

    sounds like some wiseguys

Based off his "boxer" style I wouldn't have thought he be such a savage.

I heard Joe Louis was also quite the savage despite his gentle and unassuming boy next door image?

Always thought it was strange how SRR said Doyle's death affected him but look at his record and he is KO'ing guys one after the other straight after the fight with Doyle.
