They each probably made more than all four principals on the HBO card combined, which is ****ing criminal.
Why did Wilder refuse to fight Whyte for $4,000,000 and instead fight Old Man Ortiz for far less? I guess Haymon could not control the judges, referee and boxing commission. Did you notice the referee gave Wilder extra time to recover, did you see that? The commentators mentioned it. Old Man Ortiz almost knocked Wilder out, would have if the bell had not rang.........................
Either referees are told to do that or else they are discriminating based on nationality. He was also not deducted a point for using a wrestling throw which seriously stunned Ortiz. Ortiz wasn't granted time to recuperate from that foul. Wilder wasn't warned for that foul or for rabbit punching. Neither was the ref in any hurry to break them up when Wilder was clinching excessively during that critical round when Ortiz stunned him. Things like that might seem non-important but they are not.
Yes, you are correct, I had forgotten about that........................thanks for reminding me..............
Yeah that's what he got paid according to the main page here. http://www.boxingnews24.com/2018/03/purses-deontay-wilder-2-1-million-luis-ortiz-500000/ It was a big risk for Ortiz to take this fight. He would of likely got at least 10 times as much vs Joshua had he waited for his mandatory shot this summer. But instead he took a risk and thought he could beat Wilder then likely get twice that for a unification fight with Joshua. But he'll likely get matched up with some of the other Haymon heavyweights, so he'll likely get a few more paydays before he retires.
Greasy ass buster thats helped make AJ 10s of millions more than Wilder in half the time as Wilder you freaking fruit bat.
"Biggest fight since Lewis vs. Klitschko" I think Whyte vs. Browne will be bigger than the $2.5 million of Wilder vs. Ortiz.
Huge risk for so little reward. Im not saying Im rich but as you mentioned, he could've got paid more had he waited. Waiting is what the poor guy has been doing a lot of though. Definitely deserves another title shot.
