Just wondering as I should be starting up soon enough. What would be the typical going rate for a boxer with little amateur experience in his first pro fight? I know it depends on many different things but there must be some kind of guaranteed minimum. I'm mainly hoping to get some cash so I can go to Japan.
For your first couple of fights, little amateur experience I would guess about 150-200 quid may'be a little more if you were a good ticket seller. It's not unheard of for fighters to lose money due to being put on a card on the basis of selling a certain amount of tickets, they have to buy the tickets up front then they're unable to sell them on. That's a complete guess by the way, but keep in mind you would have to pay for medical exams, licence fee's etc etc before you got started and I'm sure that would be a couple of hundred quid on it's own. If all your after is some money to go to Japan I would advise you to just try and get a regular job you would probably make the money a hell of a lot faster and with half the effort.
Theres no such thing as a minumum. For a guy with very little amateur experience though, you'd be talking very small money. Certainly less than a grand...probably a lot less.
Oh no it's not just that. I love boxing and want to give it my all. I do have a day job but if I can use the sport I love to help me get to Japan then all the better. I'm in the progress of taking everything I no longer use and selling it on Ebay just to make some cash to help me out. I'd still try boxing if they paid me a euro.
