very little one of the guys in my gym was a golden gloves champ and made no more than 1000 bux for his first bout
:admin A Thousand! Oh, wait, he had a good amateur background, so like, a guy with no amateurs would get even less right?
Here's an example of how little most fighters get paid: http://www.sfweekly.com/2011-10-12/news/feature-boxing-karim-mayfield-joe-eskenazi/4/
There's £150 - £200 on the table for me if I stop training and fight a pro bout. Given hand injuries and the shape I'm in, it's not worth it for that measly sum.
I've heard of guys only getting couple of hundreds for their pro debuts. Boxing isn't a wise career choice unless you're world class and/or have very little options.
The fact is that unless you have extensive amatuer pedigree, your earning potential will be limited. Add to that the cut throat nature of Boxing and the lack of protection your managment is likely to be able to provide; it's a poor career choice.
so the top 5% of boxers control 93% of the income. one prizefighter walks away with 57% of it. That's some serious income disparity
yessir this makes it easy to understand why successful pro boxers go nuts if their sons want to follow father's footsteps
It all depends. If you are one of the stars of the show so to speak, then your pay will (or atleast should) be more than the guys who debut on the under-card. Promoters are arseholes in general, they will pay you as little money as they can, it's not uncommon for two guys fighting eachother with identical records to have a wide disparity in pay, simply because one was more business savy than the other. General pay depends on the event too, if you're fighting in a 1500 seat arena, your pay should be more than if you fight in a 800 seat arena.
