i have to say, kevin johnson's jab is really eye catching. its a nice long probing, powerful, long acurate jab that looks very painful... like it has the sting of a quick cross. does it compare to the best hw jabbers of all time; ali, foreman, holmes, liston, thomas, seldon, lewis etc
Can't really tell yet, as he hasn't been in against a top ten fighter yet. It's definently a nice jab, but we need to see it does against contenders before we can really gauge it.
Johnson needs to upgrade his opposition right here and now..... No more fights like the one against Devon Vargas....... That Vargas vato looked like a sorry mother for an opponent....... Johnson also needs to drop 12 to 15 pounds and get into the low 230's..... The 247 range is a little too much, but since he is fighting bums and stiffs it really doesn't matter just yet... MR.BILL
Its good..but its no surprise its looking good against the level he has been facing. Thats all he really has shown thus far and its an attribute of his (frankly his only noticable one) that probably looks better because relative to the rest of his package its the only thing that stands out. Many, many said the same thing about Jermain's when he was coming up and fighting a similar level of opposition.
In the beginning of his career, Kingpin was fighting some damn tough oppo: Timur Ibragimov, Wiggins,Hawkins,McKnight (3 time am. champ). The jab is the most important weapon any fighter can have, and I would put Johnson's jab up there with Wlad's (If not better then Wlad's). Johnson has shown more than a jab, he a a sneaky powerful left hook, and a big right hand. :bbb
Ive said it many times because of that jab and his careful style he will be a very hard man to beat fighting this level of opposition. Im interested to see how he goes stepping up though or against a stylist who is good at nullifying jabs. Im \skeptical but I always am these days.
