How much do you really know about Edwin Valero? Enough for an informed opinion? Pt. 1

The level of opposition dictates what he can and cannot do so naturally Valero has the freedom to take chances that he wouldn't otherwise take when he's facing a guy like Pitalua as opposed to facing someone who could really keep him honest. Simply put, Valero can get away with being sloppy and crude against the fighters he's faced.

    Very informative post, thanks.

What are the odds he makes the Nov 14 show?

Well, from a financial/business viewpoint, Ed needs a few notable opponents to build his rep in the states. From a fight fan perspective, it would be an awesome fight to see. Two, fast, very powerful southpaws. I don't see how it could last real long, but even just a few rounds between the two would be something amazing to see in my opinion.

There are still questions if Valero's power will continue against top opponents. Maybe it still won't be KO's in the first round, but his power looks for real to me, and he's got it in both hands like Pac-man. There seems to actually be quite a few similarities between them really.

Even against Pitalua, he much more controlled compared to previous fights. He worked the jab, kept the right distance and basically invited Pitalua in, which gave him the opportunity to land an excellent counter. He only had two week or so with Alcazar before that fight. I expect him to keep looking better. What you're saying about his opposition his true and I don't think he will try anything nearly as wild against better fighters.

I would think there's a fairly good chance. I would expect Arum to really push for Edwin to get his Nevada license in time to fight on that card. That would be great exposure for him. I hope it gets done very soon.

If he was hurt a little, that's one thing, but no it did not seem like an actual KD the way it happened. I was just pointing out a lot of his detractors act as if it means he does have a bad chin. He got hit with quite a few flush shots in that fight that did not seem to bother him.

Like I said, when he was getting bonuses for 1 round KO's he got away from utilizing his boxing ability. I think he will look more like the Valero we've seen in some of those sessions as his opposition gets better and he has more time with Alcazar.

The guy is a fraud he doesnt want to fight anyone with a chance of beating and ruin a possible fight with Pac he even ducked c-level Presscott of all people.

the guy is a wimp just like the thread starter.

I would dispute those claims. Your attempts to attract attention have gotten old long ago. People here know what you're about at this point. That is all.

but that bonus didnt apply in the Pitalua fight

and though he looked much better than in his fights at Japan he still showed alot of flaws that he didnt show in those sparring sessions like keeping his hands very low. Valero is still questionable because he'll eventually run into someone who isnt intimidated by his power.

Keeping his hands low is not always bad. He looked to be inviting Pitalua in but still kept the proper distance and it worked when he landed the counter-right hook off his back foot. Like I said, he only had 2 weeks or so with Alcazar before the Pitalua fight. He also controlled Pitalua with the jab. Everyone eventually fights someone who can deal with their power. That will not be surprising.

he controlled pitalua because the second he felt valero's power he became too tentative, Pitalua is a come forward fighter but was fighting on his backfoot the entire match

Blade actually has a point, though I wont call him fraud, but calling out pac is absurd...What has he done to deserve a figth against pac? Mosquera? pitalua? Those are B- level fighters at best...If he wants the big money fights, he needs to fight atleast 2-3 fights against legit contenders and i know he has the skills to do it..

    Sotto
    Katsidis
    Casamayor
    Juan Diaz

Valero could easily beat those guys and boost up his resume..

who's he fighting next by the way?

this from a guy that starts threads about how everyone will beat Pac so he can get a reaction from the Pac fanatics cause he feels lonely in his mother's basement.

STFU & GTFO without Finito here telling you what to say you're lost.

Valero actually failed an MRI according to reports back in 2004.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=2115977&type=story

If you fail to pass required medical tests, which could include an MRI scan, you get your licence revoked and that's what happened according these reports.
