How much do you spend on boxing a year? Is it enough

**** me, you are a proper little thread starter!

I probably spent £180 on tickets for events. £70 on magazines.

£60 on ppv events

= £310

 

Around the same as my council tax costs p.a. :roll:

Honestly...

Books,Tickets, Programmes, PPV, Boxing News, The Ring, Boxing Monthly, DVDs...

It all adds up :-(

 

Too much considering in the last year I have been a student, jobless and not receiving any benefits :yep

Mags: £50
PPV: £70
Tickets: £55
Travel & accommodation: £100
Memorabilia misc.: £250

£500 ~ total.

 

to be honest if i had less ties it would be a lot more, i would get to more shows etc, but a kid and a wife does that to ya!!

 

Don't get me wrong, I don't have the most exciting social life

 

My spending on boxing has reduced directly proportional to the number of kids i've got...number of kids up, spending on boxing down. Before I was married and postings permitted I was at a card twice a month, but then thats when you could get two decent cards a month reasonably locally.

 

Not a lot really.

I'd spend a lot more if I had mates who were into it. As it stands its like "You wanna go the boxing? Katsidis v Mitchell, great tear up" "Yeah, yeah, i'll go", it gets nearer the time, ask should I book the tickets and its "im skint" or "nah, cant be arsed"

At most I can get em to watch a PPV of Haye or Hatton but other than that they aint interested. Most of my money goes on football as everyone goes and loves it.

 

So, really you should be answering the question, how much has daddy spent on boxing during the last year? :hey

 

Apart from PPV cards and travel and accommodation (I couldn't raise enough cash in 4-5 days to get to and stay in London :yep), I paid for everything else :yep:good

 

i took my mrs to the smith v quigley fight, and we went with a few other people. my bird and her mate got absolutely **** faced during the first hour, and then they spent their time back and forth between the arena and the bar, up and down they were. As a result they thought the whole event was ****, complained about the lack of music/build up to each undercard fights etc.
I bascially told her she wasn't welcome to come to the boxing any more, and have saved myself at least £50 each time i go.
i could probably spend a bit more, but then it is costing about another £20-£30 petrol each month, blah blah blah, so it is hard to justify any more money at the moment. wish i could though

 

boxing news sub £92, occasional boxing monthly £15, ppvs £60, 2 york halls £60 and 2 'big' shows £120, programmes £20, going to signing events £80ish, other memorabilia £100, cost of flowers/chocs/dinners to fiancee to counter all the above £X... The roar when your fighter gets that K.O, priceless

Boxing nuts are the best crowds around and I feel are willing to part with their cash as much or more than most other sports. This is why promoters should give value for money on the cards they put on coz as posters have responded it aint a cheap hobby
