I already anticipate the "not as much as not having loaded gloves" responses. Margarito has been out 16 months, how much do you think it will affect him. Do you think it will affect his workrate/conditioning? To what extent? Do you think it will affect something else? Do you think it won't affect him at all?
Has anyone seen his opponent fight? He looks strong and supposedly punches like a mule but I don't think he has the experience to fend off a fighter like Margarito. I haven't seen him before though. Anyway, the lay off shouldn't affect him too much if he's not fighting someone who will stretch his abilities. He should be okay, Goldie Johnson type of fight.
Should be interesting, The butterflies will defo be there. A comeback fight especially after everything that has gone down will add to it. That said, The layoff could also help a fighter like Margarito who started his fight career at an early age without a break... I'll be tuned in.
Probably a lot. His last big laayoff was before the Clottey fight and he looked like absolute shite there, so you might expect the same thing from Margarito here.
I think the layoff, combined with the beating he received from Shane and of course the lack of plaster in his gloves, might make this fight a lot closer than most people think.
Interestingly, though he looked poor, he threw 1500 punches or so per compubox setting a welterweight record. Maybe his stamina won't be as affected(though he's older now).
Don't mean to be a ****, but I think Margo is finished as a fighter, the beating he took from Shane was pretty ****ing painful, he aint a boxer- puncher or a mover, he's a straight up come forward guy, meaning once that chin is cracked, its over. I think all the years of punishment + the huge beating from Shane finished his punch resistance.
Im going to go out and say he loses but still gets the decision. That guy he is fighting has decent power and will keep Margarito honest.
