You want good support for your ankles, so you dont fall on them when you are getting punched about the place. Last thing you want is to sprain something and have to continue boxing, especially as that will cripple your upper body movement and punch power.
In short, yes. Boxing shoes vs. runners: Boxing shoes are more flexible and slide better on canvas. So they are great for more agile movement, rather than forward only running motion. Plus chunky rubber soles are more likely to catch in awkward turning or shuffling so they increase the chances of spraining your ankle. Having said that, many amateurs spar in runners simply cuz they don't know better ,or don't care, or local stores don't carry boxing shoes. My feet are pretty flat, so runners with high arches tend hurt my feet real bad. To be honest, the most comfortable i've been is kickboxing bare-footed. Good boxing shoes, vs. cheapo ones - I guess it's all about durability and personal comfort.
it honestly depends on you, some people like the low cut ring shoe some prefer it higher, I prefer them higher I do not like a thick sole, I like to slide out pivot out and use quick feet if that makes sense but others prefer the thick sole so they can drive in heavy shots as your power comes from your feet. Even then lets say you know which style of shoe you prefer, allot of it comes down to the canvas how much logo paint is on it and how tight or loose the canvas is if its loose to me thats the worse its harder to push off and it also depends on the padding some rings dont feel like there is allot of padding others feel like your fighting on a sponge.
What ever feels the most comfiest go with. I tend to move better in my trainers my boots grip to much some times
Same here. My feet pronate, especially my right one. I was much more comfortable sparring barefoot in Kenpo than wearing sneakers in the boxing gym. I never owned a pair of boxing shoes, I spent much more time doing Kenpo, but I did experience my fair share of catching the canvas with the edge of a sole and stumbling a bit.
I was sparring in an old pair of saucony's last week, had my foot in cramps, couldn't move laterally, it really effects you.
Who decided to make Pacquiao's boots look as if they have a flip-flop on the bottom? Like a flip-flop over the boot. This content is protected
