Only Pac would hurt a bit, your ranking is based on who you fight not who you dont.

if he did not fight a particular fighter then he fought and beat someone who beat them is all im saying. he never fought fighter a, but fighter a loss to fighter b and mayweather beat fighter b if not a already is all im saying. the only one who really wanted to fight floyd was margarito. none of those lightweights or jr ww wanted to fight him, that **** needs to be put to bed. cotto never wanted to fight floyd after he witnessed the gatti fight live who are you kidding ? sure as hell aint me.

All the names like Pac dont matter

Floyd retired in 06 and everyone had him an all time great...his legacy was solidified

how come he makes a comeback wins some more significant fights and now we question him on opponents he didnt fight in his first career that nobody criticized him for when he retired the first time

Manny is the only one that hurts his legacy...well it also hurts Mannys

Floyd in my opinion retired the first time like many do on top needing a break or just waiting for a big fight to emerge

I think Floyd retired thinking there were no real threats or big pay days then a guy like Manny broke through and reach p4p 1 faster than he thought

I think Floyd came back solely to face Pacquiao since he was a giant pay day and a big win for his resume

if Floyd doesnt face Manny i think it hurts him a little bit escpecially since he talked a lot of **** made challenges and accusations

i think it hurts his legacy a little if they dont fight

no im not blaiming the fight on not happening because of him but i do think he will hurt his legacy a little if they dont fight

He's still a top 10 ATG, but he'll never be considered the GOAT by anyone without a still relevant Pacqioua.:thumbsup

    You're a fan not a zombie fanboy.
    big difference there.
One can criticize him, have his own opinions and still be a fan.
The other never criticizes him ,doesnt have his own opinions only repeats whatever Floyd or anyone from his team says, and gets butthurt when somebody says anything even remotely bad about Floyd.

I'm shocked to see you've made this thread Turbotime. I must say I can respect a poster that can objectively question one of his favorite fighter's CV.

To me, Floyd's lack of activity over the past five years, and to a lesser extent the opposition he missed as a result of that, are what really bother me about his career. It's easy enough to say : "Floyd would be favoured against all those guys", but let me just point out:

1)Roy Jones was favored to win against Tarver
2)Liston was a huge favorite against Ali
3)Tyson was something like a 20-1 favorite against Douglas
4)Schmeling was considered well past it against Louis
    5)Foreman vs Moorer

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. We all know that styles make fights, and can often lend themsleves to showing why boxing is called the "Theatre of the Unexpected". Hell, if you were to look through his resume of opponents, who would have dreamed the guy who came closest to giving him his "L" would be a fairly nondescript JLC?

Notwithstanding all of that, I have serious isues with Floyd's inactivity regardless of competition. The fact he has taken years off at a time, and has only fought once in each calendar year for the past 5 years really doesn't sit well with me. I consider a true ATG to have the fortitude to push through and persevere not only against his opponents, but also his own body. Who knows what would have happened to Floyd if he had to fight through his hand problems on a more consistent basis?

People will forever talk about Mayweather and Pacquiao if they don't fight. The rest won't get a mention though. I don't think it hurts his legacy that much even so though.

The lack of a Pac fight will always be remembered.. Other than that Margarito maybe, but with what happened in the Mosley fight and Arum's money offer/decline around the Margarito fight, that won't hold too much weight. The rest will only be remembered and pointed out by people looking for something to question.

Hurts his legacy some of course, but not too much in my opinion.
