How much does it hurt the 90's era that Bowe v Lewis & Tyson didn't happen?

Obviously those would have been the biggest fights that could have been made. So just how much of a blemish on the era did that prove to be? I know personally I was bitterly disappointed that we didn't get to see the best vs each other then, it left a real empty and hollow feeling when all was said and done.

It's still the 2nd best era due to the sheer quality of the participants. Good big fights still happened, mainly due to evander. I would have liked to have seen Bowe vs Bruno, Holy against Tua and Tyson vs Foreman as well as the big ones you mentioned.

whatever damage was done as soon as the current bunch of trash emerged.

Wilder will clean up this mess.

Wilder would've been hard pressed to make it in the 90's

Lewis did fight both of them and beat them
Bowe in the amateurs and Tyson when he was past his prime.
This is the only criteria we can go off - And Lewis was not in his prime in either of these fights either

  6. Massive lost to the era.
Lewis Bowe trilogy would have changed the careers of so many fighters.

    Lewis-Tyson in the 90's. Bowe-Tyson.
+all the fights they did have with Holyfield which would have been altered due to Lewis-Tyson, Lewis-Bowe, and Bowe-Tyson all happening. Bowe would have either been pushed by Lewis and Tyson to reach his ATG Peak potential or simply vanished... If Tyson kept pushing himself with those big fights.. he might never have had slipped so far... Lewis would have a shot at GOAT HW status ... if he had beaten Bowe/ Tyson 2-3 times. I believe fighting Bowe would have forced Lewis to hire Steward a lot faster too..

So many changes. TKO6 would never have had happened either. by 03 Lewis was shot in the ACTUAL time line.. in this time line.. Lewis would have been a corpse by 03... due to the Bowe Wars. He would have retired by 2001 at the latest.

  7. Ya man. Wilder is the savior. He's like Lennox and Wlad.. but more explosive and more exciting..

Fights not happening is the biggest problem with the sport. Still the second best heavyweight era ever though.

Lewis would've knocked Bowe out. He already beat him before so that puts this fight to rest slightly.

However Moorer vs Lewis for me was the one that should've happened. Lewis was still the best heavyweight of that era.

It would have been good if the fights were made, but in terms of quality it makes no difference, if we look now the problem of big fights not being made is far greater than in the 90's..

It doesn't hurt Tyson or Lennox who are secure in their legacies, it hurts Bowe. Bowe could have beaten Tyson, but not Lennox. In the 1990s that is. A young 1980s version of Tyson could beat Bowe, and probably get to Lennox.

of course it was the seond strongest era in boxing history although those fights were not made. the present era isn't just weaker in terms of talent but also even more fighters are not made that should be made.

    It made no difference.

Bowes lack of defense and softish chin were huge liabilities.

Had he fought Tyson or Lewis he'd have been KTFO in the opening rds, and his reputation ruined.

He's genuinely lucky that Golota fouled out in their fights, or Bowe woulda lost his titles.:think

Golota put away Bowe his "great" jab within 30 seconds with his superior jab, Golota had a quality jab though.
But Bowe was atleast 2 skill levels below Golota

    Bowe was lucky
