How much does Kosei Tanaka have to achieve before receiving casual interest from the west?

Kosei Tanaka is a 15-0 3 division champion looking to become a four division champion in his 16th fight. If successful, this will be the fewest fights ever to achieve a major title in four divisions. Will he receive casual recognition if he wins? He has said that after winning a title at 115, he would like to then begin unifying and fighting outside of Japan. Can he ever receive casual interest fighting at this weight, or will he have to become the first to become champion in all five of the lowest divisions? Will even this gain him recognition from casuals?

I recognize I sound a bit snobby here, this is not my intention. Genuine question since most of you are hardcore fans, and are at least semi-casual.

Not get KO'd by Ioka, which is probably going to happen.... for starters.

Very possible, indeed. I'm a fan of Tanaka so I am hoping he pulls through. Do you think he will receive notice if he does?

It’s an uphill climb. It’ll take a while. Goes to show how unimportant the alphabet titles have become, especially at the lower weights.

the lower weight fighters from Asia are the most interesting for me... ... Tanaka has been on my radar for years

Sorry, I was going to get back to this and answer you, but evidently I had a brain fart. If Tanaka does win especially if it's impressively... it'll definitely put him on the radar, but sadly at this point, Ioka isn't quite a name over here yet, and the lower divisions still don't get the attention they deserve. So I highly doubt it. But it could definitely get him put on an undercard or two, most likely to build him up as a future opponent for Martinez.
