How much does size really matter?

    I don't think the average guy, regardless of size, would last more than a couple of rounds with Pacquiao or Gamboa.

    Yes, but the thread was specifically referring to average guys with big size/weight advantages going up against Manny...not professionals. Any top 20 SMW/LHW would obviously be too much for him.

    By entry level do you mean a raw beginner or an entry level professional. An entry level professional LHW would be a test for Manny no doubt about it. However, a raw beginner CW has no chance against Manny.

    Size makes a WORLD of difference. However it works in orders of magnitude. weight and body composition matter a small amount. Height and style matter a greater amount. Skills do make a world of difference, but physical attributes can sometimes nullify even great skills.

    Height and reach advantages are harder to deal with if a fighter is fighting appropriately. If an tall guy with decent foot movement can get away literally using the 1-2. His jab freezing you and his long strides getting him out of range and able to punch again.

    Want to see it in action look at Shaq versus ODLH. There is nothing ODLH can do with his big butt.
