It must to an extent, obviously.

But how much? A diehard ******* might say the win was worth 98% of what it would have been at the Welterweight limit. A Pac hater might say it was worth nothing because of the catchweight.

I say it detracts about 10 or 20% from the value of the victory.

    Seem fair?

A better question is how much do your stupid threads detract from this forum overall quality?

Cotto came down on weigh-in day one pound less than he came in for Clottey. ...I see no problems. It was a welterweight fight. Cotto was in great shape. Had he looked slow and weak, then it would've detracted a lot but he didn't look slow and weak. He came in in top condition and just got beaten up.

It wont detract in the short term because fans only see what they want to see. They will have you believe the catchweights didn't make one bit of difference, but yet that same fighter will continually pursue to fight at another catchweight.

In the long term when an unbiased analyst looks at this pattern. That's when people will be judgmental.
And Pac will have no one to blame but Freddie Roach.

I'd say 5%, and that's only because it looks bad on paper.

In reality, Cotto looked as healthy and muscular at the Pac weigh as he did at the Margarito weigh in, if not more healthy and muscular at the Pac weigh in:

    oh god, its Polymath again:patsch:patsch:patsch

what now, are you going to try and convince us that that was not truly Cotto, but instead an Avatar? the real Cotto was to busy rescuing kittens from trees in the Ozarks, thus not having a perfect WiFi signal, which detracted from controlling his avatar correctly resulting in a total ass whopping from Pac.

  7. How much does Floyd dragging Marques up to 147 where he was a slow fat gimp take away from that victory? How about Fighting Hatton at 147 instead of 140?

Don't worry about those fights. They are in the past and Floyd will now fight a real welter and his name is Matthew Hatton!

A lot. Mayweather has been widely criticized for not fighting the best comp., while Pac has been lauded as an ATG by some despite the problems with DLH being so drained, and Hatton being not very good, and Cotto having to figh at the catchweight.

Cotto was able to make it fine, he was 146 for his last fight so 145 isnt a big deal.

But Manny completely dominated him and if people say (and I agree) that the catchweight didnt have any effect on the fight, then why have it in the ****ing first place?

It shows a lack of confidence on Roach's part. Manny didnt need the catchweight and it takes away from his legacy doing that. Cotto already shouldnt have had that belt so now pac has gotten a belt that belongs to clottey and fighting at 145 not 147. Its ****ing pointless if Pac is that good then just fight at 147.

The Hatton fight shouldn't really be picked on, in my opinion. Hatton HAD already won a 147 pound title. The WBA title. The same one Cotto, Margarito and Shane have had. That's having proved himself at that weight class. The Marquez fight was very different. That was bogus. Hatton, career 140-pounder who had been successful at 147 against Floyd, Career weight climber from Super Feather to Light Middleweight. That wasn't really a big deal. But making a guy like Marquez at his age jump two weight classes, then not meeting the required catchweight was not cool. But Marquez wanted it so it wasn't unfair. It's just not something you can give Floyd a lot of credit for.

  14. Hatton looked **** at 147 the first time. FIght could easily been scored to Collazo, but of course that was never in the cards. I think Floyd looked good beating Hatton but the fact is he was still fighting a 140 pounder at 147!
