How much does the catchweight detract from Pac's victory?

Pac TOOK the ODLH fight, when Oscar wanted it on Oscar's terms and had no idea Oscar was going to turn up in such poor condition. That's not Pac's fault. He took a fight two weights past his first fight as high as 135. Hatton was the linear LWW champion who had just completely outclassed Paule Malignaggi and become the first to stop him. Cotto agreed to the catchweight which is only one pound under what he weighed in at with Clottey in his own comfort zone and he was in great shape. Most of the Mayweather scorn is from "retiring" then after his short retirement/long vacation, pulling that crap where he takes a 36-year-old up two weight classes, shows disregard for their catchweight agreement and acts like he just beat the second best welterweight in the sport instead of the p4p number two who was pushing it at lightweight.

The thread starter is a joke the guy doesnt even know what weight classes exist in boxing,he thinks 145 equals Jr Welterweight for ****s sake.

He got ran out of the MMA forum for being a troll and now hes trying his luck here.

    Common misconception.

    146.999999lbs is 147lbs

When you make a fight at a catchweight of 145lbs you have to weigh at 145 or under.

    Thats a 2lb difference.

Two lbs is a lot when youre talking about elite fighters who are already draining to make weight.

Pac and Roach clearly thought so, or they wouldnt have asked for the fight at a catchweight, and taken all the credit for winning a legitimate title at the real 147lb Welterweight limit.

    Thank you!

I predicted all the outrage that would come from this, and the fact the catchweight would detract from a Pac victory. I'm glad somebody remembers and gives me credit!

Eh.....not that much to be honest given the fact that his kid started at 107. NOW....he'll need to **** or get off the pot if he wants to stay at WW. Fight at 147 or go back down to 140 where he'll be more dominating. Cotto was a guage to see how really good this kid is as a WW and he answered all questions loud and clear.

Go watch some Lumberjack competition or some arm wrestling tournament you roid freak and leave boxing to the people who at the very least know the different weight classes.

You'd actually have a point if PAC had more than one catch weight fight. Any unbiased anaylst would see that PAC is a truly special talent and give him credit for his accomplishments. It's the BIASED ones that will try to spin things like saying PAC always fights at catch weights when it's only been one time. If PAC fights again at 145 or 146 then a pattern of 2 is set and critisim would be more warranted....but not at this time.

The only thing PAC can blame Fred for is for taking his wild talent, honing it, harnesting it and enabling him to project it when fighting in the ring...ultimately helping PAC to get him to where he is today.

I'd say it was worth about 90%.
