I dunno, these guys believe in a magical land what where black guys from dixie have corruption at their disposal but are still unable to turn his name into a household name. If you ask why didn't he fight Povetkin or Ortiz you'll get some nonsense about how he never intended to fight those men then if you ask why isn't he well known you'll be told his promotional team sucks. They never connect that they just claimed that same team had the guile to screw Ortiz and veteran Povetkin when trashing their ability to make Wilder a name. Because it's not really about perspective it's more about taking shine off the man regardless of subject. So in one statement they're happy to claim Wilder's team is a very smart, capable, and tricky team just as long as those terms are not used and term like coward are. In the next sentence they'll claim his team is a bunch of bumbling morons who couldn't put together a viable strategy if their careers depended on it as long as you put it terms like that rather than saying anything that implies is sounds like they're too stupid orchestrate anything that pulls one over on Ryabinsky. We already find ourselves at a point where the excuses to not respect the man are either self contradictory or openly bias. I don't see how he could possibly pull over willful cognitive dissonance any more than he could an honest and open hater. I can respect the folks who simply dislike Wilder's sword and shield style, but at this point most have morphed their opines into something that's mostly just semantics based. Who has he fought is a common one. To be honest, if you need to see a talented fighter fight another talented fighter to judge whether or not the first talented fighter has any talent at all you suck at spotting talent bud. I get that resume is evidence for quite a lot, but to point to resume and then make the claim that he's without any redeeming qualities is short sighted and stupid. Who has he fought should only ever come up in reference to another obviously talented HW not as a means to steal some shine whenever and however Wilder is brought up. Y'all act like it's a universally acceptable criticism in a vacuum but even in that vacuum I't just stupid. If you need Wilder to fight a guy like AJ to know Wilder is one of the more talented HWs active today you're just an idiot. Your not making a good point you're embarrassing yourself.
So explain please, how Bremane Stiverne could possibly become his Nō1 mandatory Challenger after 3 years of virtual retirement? Explain how in 39 boxing matches Wilder has never fought a live Challenger.
You're not going to get any new information you don't know. It is a perspective on what we already do know, and that perspective is explained. I mean I could respond with "Gee I wonder how a Don King fighter gets a blessing if not from the dirty Team Wilder" but you've heard that sort of **** I'm sure so what is the point? Don't misunderstand me, I've no issue with you laying down the gauntlet, but I'm confused as to what you expect from me. I didn't allude to having special exclusive knowledge that would completely change your mind did I? All I did was criticize the takeaway of which you have sidestepped, define your terms. Also, I think it's interesting y'all like to harp on the WBC as if all the ranking bodies don't have things to answer for. Are we to assume there is a pro Fujimoto corruption as well or does that get a free pass because it's not WBC? What the **** is going on with Fres? The WBA can't make up their goddamn mind whose money they like the most? I'm absolutely happy to follow yer lead when explaining sanctioning body corruption. Seriously I'd enjoy it if someone here knew their ****, but from what I've seen is it's a whole lot of conjecture run amuck and if that's all you have buddy I'm just going to highlight that is indeed unsubstantiated conjecture that is itself self contradictory like I in the post you've responded to. 39-0 with no names is not evidence of corruption buddo.
Sorry if I created some confusion, my post is not centred on the WBC but on Deontay Wilder and his team, the WBC are merely complicit. I’ve been around boxing long enough to know not to get embroiled in the machinations of sanctioning body politics and corruption. 39 - 0 with zero names (not even close) is evidence of a protected fighter, not unusual in boxing, however when said fighter is preaching from the rooftops about his greatness and calling out other fighters for ducking he becomes the subject of ridicule.
Oh I see what's gone on here. I did kind of answer that issue, but I was being a smart ass so I'll reword and expand it. I'm pretty sure most of Wilder's career can be chalked up to being from dixie. There isn't a lot of opportunity there and anyone from there breaking out onto the international scene is not taken seriously. I don't think back in say 2011 when Wilder first started calling out Fury, Price, Chambers, etc that any of those men ducked him per se I just don't think they took him seriously and since he didn't have money backing him there was no good reason to take him seriously. I mean my dude you can not tell me the goofy redneck is not a staple in international comedy. The whole damn planet makes fun of us, throw black on top of it and you've no connections to rely on. Don't mistake me I'm not even getting into racism in dixie, though it is a valid point....I mean it's where the KKK lives...still, but I'm just saying by numbers nepotism has to favor white skinned men. So even if you don't believe it's hard to be black in the home of the KKK all I'm asking you to believe is it's hard to be an unknown in a room filled with people who know each other. Those two factors together, black and from dixie, yes I do believe Wilder struggled to get people of international worth interested in fighting him. Don't mistake me, I'm not claiming Jay and Mark didn't take their time with him and have him gain experience as a pro before even trying to step up, they did, but he's been trying since 2011 and no one's ever bitten and I can't really fault him for it or say that the situation isn't historically typical. I can remember when Peter Fury was explaining Wilder was too dangerous a fighter to be someone no one's ever heard of and get good fights. Today it's still pretty much exactly what people have to say in regard to Wilder. They all say it differently but that's pretty much all I got out of AJ's sky interview too. Wilder is dangerous and since he's dangerous he needs to bring something to the table because everyone can make just as much money fighting a walk. Like when Fury fought Hammer, I don't think Fury was scared of Wilder he just didn't feel the need to take the risker fight for no more reward. Also, I have an issue with accepting the bitter corruption angle because guys have been screaming that since Bermane pulled out of Wilder 1 with a training injury and have never really had a logical explanation. People were skeptical it was Wilder's fault and blamed Wilder for being scared of Bermane. Now that's absurd but back then it was for some reason considered a probable explanation. Bermane asked for more time and it was Wilder's fault....absurd. That's why Wilder had the "make the date" video made and all. Because fans blamed him for Bermane delaying the fight. With Povetkin specifically the very first time there was an extension on his mando fight with Wilder the boxing internet blew up with Wilder criticisms even though Povetkin had asked for the extension and spoke about asking for the extension publicly as far back as a public presser for the Pov-Wach fight. King Kong Ortiz, well honestly the first time he got caught he pissed of the spanish world pretty good. I'm Puerto Rican myself so I'm probably not the best ambassador for the entire spanish world but my take is this. We're not so much upset that he was on PEDs as much as he got caught. The second time it happened **** yes I was angry with the old stupid gorilla. I believed his heart medicine story I just couldn't believe he was dumb enough to not disclose everything he's putting in his body to the sanctioning bodies. Caribbeans don't exactly have a ton of HWs to be proud of, if he gets himself banned we might have to wait a decade or so before we have another guy with a hope in hell at touching the title. I might be a little unfair to Kong for personal reasons but I never saw a reason to wonder if Wilder caused it....Wilder had nothing to do with King Kong's ass cheating Lateef. And now you see the general problem with undefined terms and challenges. I can clearly reminisce on recent events in HW boxing history just fine, but without knowing exactly what you take issue with in the 39-0 I'm kind of forced to either write a novella or tuck tail, and if with a novella such as this I can never be certain I'm even covering a subject you had in mind.
Well it’s pretty simple, Wilder hasn’t fought anybody! Let’s break Wilders career down into THREE easy sections LEARNING FIGHTS I’ll accept that maybe his first 20 fights were Learning bouts so he’s not expected to fight Top 10 or World Champions (despite the fact that Joshua fought 2 Top 10 opponents a World Champion and a former World Champion inside 19 fights). POST LEARNING - PRE TITLE FIGHTS Wilders never stepped up though has he, accepting his first 20 fights as stated above, he’s had another 11 fights (taking him to 31-0) but again he never stepped up the opposition, preferring to stick with journeymen and bum of the month fighters. TITLE FIGHTS He’s then had 8 title fights, Now accepting Stiverne 1 where he had no choice over the opponent because Stiverne had the belt, he’s had 7 more fights and still hasn’t improved on the quality of his opposition which he faced in his first 20 fights. I dubiously accept that he may not have been at fault in the failed fights with Povetkin & Ortiz although I have my suspicions. However there are plenty of fighters who’ve occupied a Top 10 placing during the last 3 years but rather suspiciously not a single one of them appears on Wilders non resume. Now, IMO it is absolutely unfathomable that this is not by design in order to keep Wilder away from fighters with any semblance of a chance of beating Wilder. Ergo HE IS BEING PROTECTED!
He needs to have a trilogy with Stiverne for me truly believe in Wilder. Trilogies are the secret to greatness.
Jeez guys I think some of you guys are thinking I'm saying I believe he deserves all this "respect" I just gave my opinion on what I think will be enough and was wondering what everyone else thinks. So, not why does he not have your respect but what can he do in the future to get it.
Didn't he sign the contract with Povetkin and Ortiz. U make it sound like he's ducked every challenge. While I agree his resume isn't good it ain't his fault everytime.
Appreciate the detailed response, I assumed I would get a couple of fight options but it seems everybody who hates the dude couldnt help themselves but to click the post with wilder in the title.
Wider needs to accept a 30% split or whatever Hearn is offering for the AJ fight (even if he accepts a 30% split he'll still get a good payday) hasn't he made enough money to secure his and his kids future? He has an estimated $16 million net worth and he won $7 million in court over the cancellation of the (povetkin) fight, isn't this about his legacy?
He has to fight and destroy Joshua. That's the ONLY way he's going to get respect. He beats Ortiz? "nah the Cuban was 49yrs old" Beats T Fury? "Fury was a fat gypsy druggie" Beats Parker "nah Parker was a bum" Beats Lomochenko? "Dude was too small" Etc. Take the Joshua fight under ANY circumstances....ko the guy and THAT'S when you will get respect.
While there are "some" truths to "some" of what the detractors have said about Wilder I find it laughable Whyte name keep coming up. What has Whyte ever done to be considered a higher level fighter than anybody Wilder ever faced. Whyte hasn't had one fight where anybody could look at him and think he is a very top fighter. Ortiz and Povetkin has but not Whyte. Jarrel Miller has been more impressive than Whyte. So I don't understand why Whyte name keep getting mentioned.
Gonna take a lot cause after 40 fights if he finally beats someone of note folk are just gonna say why have you been so protected all these years,so hard to believe anything out of Wilders gob anyway, remember all the big announcements this year all adding up to Stiverne.
