How much "flak" does Wilder get if he faces Bellew next?

Should a unification fight with Parker somehow fail to materialize, what's your take on the prospect of Wilder going over to the UK and... uh... 'defending' against Bellew next?

Last I heard, Stiverne was the WBC mandatory, but Bermane has done nothing to be put back at that status. He would likely be paid some "step aside" money while Wilder goes after some UK bucks.

    Discuss.

A lot of flak. Yes, it is true that Stiverne doesn't deserve a title shot but I am sure there are other options. Bellew would provide the powest pssible risk for Bronze Bamby at this point.

Unlike a Dustin Nichols check-jab, "flak" is something Wilder is willing to take again to extend his farcical career.

Maybe not much, many are expecting him to keep taking the easier fight.

If he really went after AJ it would shock me.

Going after Parker may even be too much for Wilder. That July offer he made Parker reeked of a intentionally mistimed offer.

Wilder is on record as stating "Tony Bellew has nothing he wants" and he further expressed a desire to unify the HW division.

Let's hope he makes good on not even entertaining the thought of a Bellew fight unless he becomes mandated to do so (which he currently isn't).

An easy fight for big money, and raises Deonkeys non existant profile outside of Alabama, to at least someone most British casuals have heard of.

I dont think Bellew takes this fight. Unless for some reason a Parker fight doesnt come off or other big fights do not materialise.

I wish you were right in believing Bellew would decline such a fight (if it were presented to him), but it was Bellew who initially expressed interest in a Wilder fight (with Hearn by his side) in an interview following the Bellew-Haye fight. The shouting match between Bellew and Wilder over the weekend was no coincidence.

***Please don't do it, Deontay. Let Bellew earn his spot. :shakehead:

Then again, money talks.... so we'll see what happens. I sincerely hope he goes in a different direction, but it's his career and his team must know what they're doing.

Wilder wasn't avoiding the flak when he fought the likes of Molina, Dahaupas and Szpilka. Guys we've never heard of before. If he picks Bellew - a guy 25 lbs lighter - now it would be another cherrypick. Business as usual for Wilder.

Id lose respect for wilder if he fought Bellew next. What about the HWs working hard to get a shot at that title he's keeping hostage, then he goes and defends it against Bellew?

Can't really blame him. Big money for a fight he should win easily. Although with his chin it would be funny if Bellew sparked him.

He'd get the same amount of flak as he does for every terrible opponent he chooses. This is nothing new, he's become a master at taking a turd and polishing it and then getting idiots to pay him for it.

He goes all the way to the UK to the biggest heavyweight title fight in years and what does he do, call out the AJ or even Wlad, no he picks on a former cruiserweight who's best win at heavyweight was against an injured opponent, what a ****ing joke.

He wouldn't get any flack from me. I expect him to do stuff like this.

Besides, it'd be a good fight, and a winnable one for Bellew.

Ultimately those fights get made that give the fighters the most money. I can't blame Bellew for going after Wilder because he seems more beatable than AJ, while giving Bellew a solid payday. Can I blame Wilder if he get's offered a $5 million paycheck to fight a lightpunching cruiserweight when Wilder normally cashes in $1 million purses in his hometown mismatches? Hardly.

How is Bellew any different than the line of guys he has been fighting? Bellew would be a normal opponent for Wilder
