I look back at this fight, and it doesn't seem to be the type of fight where a guy of Mosley's age walks away unscathed. For Cotto, he is young enough to move on with his career like nothing happened, and also him winning such a tough fight will boost his confidence. For a fighter like Mosley on the other hand, at 36 I don't think that he could have walked away without damage on this one. Mosley should be real carefull of who he fights and how he fights them from now on IMO. What do you think?
he's already 36...he's gonna fight the way he wants to fight. lets not take that away form him alright? he wants to go out on his shield?good!nothin but love Champ!
Ali was the one left standing in the Thrilla in Manilla, yet you can't possibly say that that fight didn't take something out of Ali.
Mosley hardly got a beating. He got countered, and out punched but not like he left anything in the ring when he wasn't really willing to take many risks. Cotto was more hurt during the fight. Mosley fought to cautious.
it has not done much. mosley i think is still in the same possition. as he was before the cotto loss.
Not too sure.... if i remember correctly, i saw blood coming out of mosleys ear, but again maybe i didnt see it right... at any rate, yes... a 36 year old fighter fighting cotto... wether we think so or not, is going to take some damage, we will have to wait and see how it effects him, but him being the gym rat he is, shouldnt effect him as much as others. I sure would like to see him retire.... one of the last people id like to see start showing debilitating signs is Mosley
I'm not saying that Mosley got a beating. It was a tough two-sided fight that might effect a man who's 36 IMO.
does nobody here think that the cotto fight might have added something to mosley at this point in his career.
He fought a great fight against a young Lion and came up short, nothing to be ashamed of. Though I've never seen Mosley's face so swolleen and he did have blood coming out of his ears, he complained during the interview and pointed it out to I beleive Kellerman. I think the fight proved just how great he is and was by giving while he was getting. I happen to know Cotto got on the ball to show he was the better boxer because the public kept pressing the fact that he's the pressure fighter and he will out muscle Shane....Cotto is extremely intellegent and understands the power of the media so he decided to showcase these talents by outboxing the so called boxer. But of course to those outside the circle and to those who are not very fond of Cotto they focus on the negative aspects making references to him "running" I find it comedic but acceptable. Also close sources I know mentioned the fact that the cut in his mouth reopened so avoiding an all out brawl was important to his future though that was Cotto's team that urged him to keep countering and boxing. If you understand spanish you can here his team making this point.
I think so, Shane is pure class when I met him outside a radio station here in New York he was all smiles and thanked me for the support. The biggest stand up aspect of his personality is his humility in defeat. He realized he lost the fight, admitted he lost and congradulated Cotto on a well fought fight. Legend all the way in my opinion, some see his loses and frown I see a man that fought all the elites he could get his hands on. Great man for the sport.
I think Mosley is an absolute legend in boxing. He is one of few fighters in the modern game who never ducks an opponent, and these fighters should be recognised as the true greats.
It was not that grueling of a fight, you people need to start watching the HBO fights with the volume turned off. Had mosley winning the fight easily.
