I quite familiar with Holmes. Maybe if Page beat David Bey, Holmes would have fought him. Instead Holmes fought Bey. A match with Dokes was unlikely due to Alphabet politics. Two different champions. There's lots more to think about with Holmes outside of two fights.
How much higher could he be ranked at #3 to #4? He arguably beat Spinks in the rematch, had the guts to get into the ring with the young feared monster, gave Holyfield a good fight and beat Ray Mercer at Foreman-age. If you split hairs, he could tie with Louis at #2. To dethrone Ali, he needed to win against a imaginary up-building 70s Foreman and another ATG in the 80s, which is illusionary. If someone had the chance to do that, its Lewis via not getting one-shottet and the chance to meet Bowe + younger Tyson and Holyfield: A heavyweight Fabulous Four situation.
Truly one of the dumbest things I've read in a long time. You take no time to do a research timeline instead you just want to bash a fighter you dont like and think no one will call you out for it. Holmes in 75 was in no position to fight George nor was he ready yet. Pure fantasy on your part.
I’m laughing when I wrote that I was thinking of you, imagining how you’d react when you read it and you exceeded my expectations you nut hugging douche, For the record I love Larry thanks.
The only douche here is you not to mention a complete idiot who makes things up as he goes along. Another moronic 14 yr old added to the forum....idiot
I have never understood the love for page. He was simply a contender. Never an outstanding logical contender. During Holmes reign Greg lost in fights that did not decide who the best heavyweight of that era was. so just like the rest of them Greg was never a champion. Dokes was never a champion either. He drew with Ocasio, hardly beat Tex Cobb then beat Weaver. Larry beat all three. The Tate vs Coetzee fight created a title that was never based on anything more than being a regular contender. neither were regarded the worlds second best heavyweight at that time. Weaver inherited this equally regular status beating the winner after losing to Larry. it’s no different to any other former title challenger beating another contender having failed to win the title when a belt isn’t involved. This in a year where Larry Had established top status beating the Two time conqueror of Jimmy Young and Ernie Shavers who had just demolished Ken Norton? In 1978 Ali, Norton, Shavers and Young were the best available. By 1979 Ali had retired and the others were replaced by Larry Holmes. He beat Norton and shavers and Ocasio who had replaced Jimmy Young.
Evidently u must want mine in yours if your randomly thinking about me. Well sorry to disappoint you but I dont roll that way. I'm too old for stupid trolling ####
No difference. He was only after Ali and Louis as ATG. It would have been nice if prime Tyson had become WBA champ in 1980 so Holmes could have stopped him in 10 and unified the title. (Sometimes I find it fun to infuriate the Iron Mike worshippers here)
