No chance. He should've been in a strong enough position to be earning big bucks by now but unfortunately Froch has been arguably the worst promoted British world champ of recent memory. Especially considering how easy it should've been to sell him to the public.

750,000 grand seems alot but I read that as well. Showtime must have put loads into this tournament.

Eubank and Benn were making circa £750k a fight in the mid 90's on ITV. Froch doesn't have the profile they had....

Khan is making more that and has less of a profile than them so your point doesnt hold a huge amount of weight

EDIT: Ignore this i was having a ******ed moment. Im still fairly sure Froch is taking alot away from the S6 as Showtime have reportedly pumped a huge amount in hence why the semi finals are in venues where that wouldve sold better in Europe because they wanted to hype up the finals.

Yeah, but £750k in the 90's is equal to over £1,100,000+ today.

I seem to recall Dan Rafael saying as champion you got paid a guarenteed £600k ($1mil) with a lower amount to the challanger. You then get an even higher amount for the Semi Finals, Final and Winning the final.

The gate on all fights is split 50-50 to but each european fighter keeps there home TV revenue.

He will be on over £1million for this fight.

I think it's partly due to Froch being mismanaged that he's become a favourite in the eyes of the genuine boxing fan. Amongst those circles I'd imagine he's far more popular than other leading British fighters such as Haye and Khan..... mainly because of his attitude, fight anyone, anywhere.

In terms of his earnings, I'd imagine he's on a fair whack to be honest.... and probably always has been. There must have been a reason why he stuck with Hennessy so long until now :think

Showtime have always been interested in him during his earlier years and has now been on their channel five (soon to be six and maybe seven) times in a row, three of them potential FOTY contenders with perhaps another this weekend.

He's also had the income from Crimetime which will be largely his due to them using the Showtime feed.

The money for the semis and final will be pretty big too.... it's a publicity decision rather than financial one for him to head to Sky. It's clear to me that they wanted him all along but didn't want the baggage to go with it, being Mick Hennessy and several undercard fighters that could put a glass eye to sleep.

Find out the revenue the bout is generating and from that you can work out roughly how much a fighter will be getting. This is how you can guess at purses... not by reading the shite posted by the clueless such as Big Dunk.

your right. 99% of fighters claw there way to the top fighting anyone and everyone they can. once they get there acclaim and most importantly money the begin to cherry pick.

also don't under estimate how much boxing fans like to look like smart arses and out think the pundit. The number of Amir Khan is ****, chinless, will never be a world champion threads in his ITV days were ridiclious.

I wouldn't go as far as to say 99%, but your point rings true.

Once at the top I think some fighters take the ****.... I'm not going to name no names here, whereas others still stick to fighting the best fighters.

I could understand someone cherry picking a man who is getting a lot of hype and is overpaid - a fighter like Berto was being pumped heavily by the TV stations for instance.

Another example is Lewis..... the WBA wanted him to fight Ruiz who was boring as hell and could have extended him and made him look bad, in a fight nobody wanted to see..... or fight Michael Grant, who wasn't that much inferior but wasn't as durable and was being hyped up to the eyeballs as the American of the future.

Knock him off his perch and get all the credit for it before someone else does.

Some fighters are clever in this respect, they consider all aspects - fighting the best fighters, fighting opponents that people want you to fight, fighting opponents that you'll get credit for beating, fights that will make you money.

That's why Maidana was ideal for Khan. Everyone was calling him glass jawed, Maidana is heavy handed and coming off some impressive victories over men like Ortiz. Khan beat him, took the credit for it..... before he nearly came unstuck against Morales.

Around 250k seems the most realistic there is no way he is earning near a Million maybe for the whole Tourney not 1 fight.
