Not really.... Lewis was falling forward and pressing cuz he was exhausted.... His air-bag was about to pop... V.K. had gas still in his tank, but, was cut badly... A rematch was much needed in Dec. 2003... Lewis retired; Klit KO'd Kirkland Johnson on HBO and said: "HI" to Lewis on the air waves... Cheerio... MR.BILL:hat
If Lewis had of gone to work on those injuries in five months they would have opened up quick. I see Lewis going for another year max - which always brings up the question in my mind would Vitali have been ready or wanted more time?
one thing that isn't in quetion is what a bad state the heavy division is in at the moment with the exception of david haye..its completely devoid of colour and personality
:rofl If VK can't even drop Briggs twelve years on what on earth makes you think he could KO Lewis ever? But seeing your description of the fight I see why - this is the classic forum not the fantasy forum.atsch
V.K. had great plastic surgery done to repair that ****ed up eye that Lewis opened up in June 2003... When V.K. met Kirkland Johnson to cap-off the year in Dec., their was no signs of redness or rawness that would indicate the prior cuts would play a factor... V.K. simply went about his BIDNESS and walked-thru Johnson like he was a wet paper bag... WORD! MR.BILL
To be honest, had anyone expected that Hasim Rahman, who couldn't even drop glass-jawed Oleg Maskaev despite winning the fight before the KO loss and went full 12 rounds with 41-years old Jessy Fergusson, could knock Lewis out with a single punch? VK has a good punch (not WK or Tyson-type power, but still good) and Lennox chin isn't granite so he definitely had a chance to stop Lennox in their second fight.
:rofl Please - and now YOUR an expert plastic surgeon with insider knowledge of the state of Vit's eye and all the nerve tissue in the surrounding area. Even bringing up Kevin Johnson's name in comparision to Lewis is hilarious.
Lewis would have likely lost the re-match to Vitali Klitschko. Indeed, the money to the tune of 18 million for Lewis was there if he wanted the re-match. Leiws talked for several months, then retired before the WBC would strip him of his title.
Lewis would have TKO'd Vitali in their first fight, probably around round 8... had it not been stopped on cuts. But he retired at just the right time, as the fight with Vitali proved, he was fading fast (and Vitali would have probably won the rematch a year or so later) Though I strongly believe that a peak late 90's/early 00's Lewis would have KO'd both Klits, and walked through Haye.
Is that your partners name? I bet he thinks its wild you call his name and type it into a computer. Or maybe your in a peace pipe haze.
I think he had an excellent chance but not by KO - IMO more likely points with LL getting hurt more. At his age all he had done I am glad he didn't and knew when the hungrier lions were at his door.
I think that if he trained hard and with dedication, he would have prevailed over both Klitschko brothers...and I'm a big fan of the brothers. I just think that LL was the best...maybe of all time. I also think he would be soon ready after that to wisely retire.
Lewis still could fight and box, something lacking from todays division. I dont think he had the desire to do it anymore more than anything, but physically I dont think it would have taken much from him to beat the guys the Klitschkos are beating, they offer nothing.
I thought Vitali was the one who was fading. Lewis closed the gap and really started putting it on VK thus the reason those cuts appeared in the first place.
