He is a big welter. Not in height but in frame and muscle mass. In the Lo Greco fight he weighed in at 156! He has weighed in above 149 on 7 occasions. In 3 years he will outgrow the division Will Spence be able to compete against the "giants" of 154? Seriously! Charlo I and II, J-Rock and Andrade are all 6 ft plus.
He's not gonna move N until he's the #1 WW and needs bigger names. As for how he'd fare at the MWs ....just fine. Power plus skills plus strength equal success. The other guys there are lacking in one or more of the 5 intangibles
I'd say a couple more years. His frame is big already for the 47 pound division, so it's inevitable that he moves up.
Weighing 156 isn't bad at all. That's only 9 lbs rehydration and that's healthy. Anything over 10-15 lbs is too much
If Andrade cleans that division out, like many of us expect him to, he'll move N to 160 when GGG moves up. At that point, there's nothing at 154 for Spence. Maybe a 2/3 paper title fights, then up to 160 for Spence
He Weighed in at 156 the day before the fight. We don't know his fight night weight. Just saying that's a bit high for a welter, unless he weighed the same on fight night vs Lo Greco.
